    ...you'll really struggle with a 14 year old policy/agreement.

Thats got to be a typo.

As for PC world tech guys they aren't much use anyway they remind me of kwik fit you'll have one guy who knows what hes talking about (just) whilst the others just nod and grunt.

I know several very clued up guys who went for interviews for tech positions, PC world were only interested in their sales skills and didn't pay much attention to their computer experience/history/qualifications.

lol, dont you think its time spend some money and buy a new computer after 14 years,

What do you expect them to do with a 14 year old computer, most parts are now discontinued.

Thats if its even a computer considering it is PC world.

ah yeah its a typo lol. :o

I believe its 2007 we bought the HP touchsmart, the 1st model that came out. Off course at that time i didn't realize its just an inferior PC running of a laptop processor but luckily my parents only needed it for light use so its served us well enough for their purposes.

Honestly it would be much more help to everyone if you stated your problem and the facts and you'll save a whole lot of time tapping the wealth of knowledge of MSE instead of stabbing blindly in the dark.

The letters already gone but it boils down to the fact they've had it for repair for the same problem about 4 times. Half the time their couriers have turn up on the wrong day or not at all which means it has had to be resceduled. (another day i'm housebound twiddling my thumbs waiting for them.)

As a result of them turning up as and when they please we don't have accurate records of how long the computers been gone for but I would guess its near or above the magical 6 weeks.

Latest saga I spoke to them last week and was told their had been an attempted repair and then a request to write it off had been sent in and he would be very surprised if a decision hadn't been made by wednesday.

So i ring in thursday [today] and i'm told after he has me holding for 10 mins to talk to the relevant people that it seems like its being repaired, to which i reply we were told the repair was unsuccessful and a write off repair had been made. He then says parts have been ordered and a request has been put through as well so i'm afraid this makes no sense and we will ring you when things become clearer. So i have no more information then i had last week!

I've never seen such a mess I don't know how people can run a company this way.

What it means is a write off request was put through to the department and then they sourced the parts for the repair while the write off was in process. What the department who writes off the system does is double check the system that the repair is not scheduled for delivery and that there are no parts ordered.

The FSA are the agency who regulate the sale of insurance products, but I am not so sure they did so in nineteen ninety-seven.

If the sale was regulated and the insurance policy still exists, it wouldn't matter how long ago it was.
