So putting it in the cupboard is the perfect excuse for forgetting about it, which is what you subconsciously want to do.

I'm on the 'one in the back of the cupboard never used' list.
Receivied it as a present, had a look at the recipe book and decided it wasn't for me.
Like geordie joe I don't like the idea of prepping everything before I go to work.
Have a look at some recipes and consider whether it's 'your sort of food' or not.0 -
How about prepping stuff the night before, that is what I do, leave it all in the fridge and just "chuck it all in" in the morning, switch on and off out. Meal ready when you get home.
Do you know someone who has one that you could maybe borrow from to try and see if you like it? Mine gets used all the time, but much more in the winter when I know I want to come in to a hot meal. I use mine for joints of meat, casseroles, rice pudding. Certainly check out on the old style thread for lots of ideas.0 -
I use mine alot, mainly because I am a dreadful cook.
I have a tendency to burn almost anything and everything, so something with a timer on works for me.
Although I am a bit antsy about leaving things cooking whilst I am out of the house, (just me), so I more often than not put it on at night and it works whilst we are in bed.
Just warm it up when I get home the next day.
I try to make enough so that I have a freezer meal as well, again saving money on leccy.
In the winter mine stays on the counter as I use it so often, in the summer I put it away, but it still get dragged out about twice a week on average, like when I want to braise a red cabbage.Ebay 13

I love mine, it does not have a timer but if I am out I plug it into a timer to come on at a certain time, not everything needs to be on all day!! If you are on your own, do a good sized stew in it then freeze the rest, stew comes out of the freezer better than it goes in anyway. It is nice not to have to nip in and stir it every so often too. I find it best for the good basic meals, don't tend to do anything fancy in it.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

I had one, but it didn't work well (an Anthony Worrall Thompson one) at all, so I would recommend checking out reviews and getting one only after that! When you get a good one though they are brilliant for nice fast easy stews over Winter.

I love mine and dont think i could cope without it now especially on the cold winter nights. Nothing nicer than coming home to house filled with yummy cooking smells and a belly full of stew lol.
I do all the usual stews, soups, casseroles, curries, chillis, spag bol in mine, havnt recently also started cooking cheap joints of meat in there aswell and these usual tough, fatty, chewy joint fall apart with a spoon. Can also do some puds in them although ive only ever done rice pudding.
Always plenty of leftover to stick in the freezer for days when i dont feel like cooking or money is tight.
I literally chop and chuck all mine into the slow cooker add water and seasoning and just leave it to work its magic, either over night or 8am-5pm when at work.

Didn't use mine much until I finished working as I never seemed to have time to do the prep but now I use it a lot. I was amazed when I tried a whole chicken - it was so tender it fell apart as I lifted it out and only needed a small amount of liquid, just to cover the bottom. It's 5 o'clock somewhere!0
