Skip company will not collect skip

I have a skip that has been pn my driveway for two weeks after it was filled and asked to be picked up. It is from a skip company called Pink Leaf based in Greenford Middlesex. I have called everyday and they promised it will be that day. Today I told them I contacted the env agency which I did and they told me to either get a lawyer or say that another skip hire company will remove it for them. The guys pink leaf flipped, I tolf them that it has been two weeks of calling everyday and not being able to use my driveway for that period. but they told be that they have thousands of skips and some are left or months.

Please somebody help me.. Has anyone faced a situation like this. I have hired over 20 skips from these guys when I was renovating the house. It is only and only now are they being difficult.

should I call a solicitor or get another firm involved?

thank you

I should try putting it in writing first. State that you would like it removed and give them a deadline.

Its too early to get solicitors and other skip companies involved. Toffegirl is right - write to them (recorded delivery) giving them 7 days to remove it otherwise you will get another company to move it and recover all costs vis small claims.

i think you made the mistake of arguing with them when they flipped. We had a similar problem a while back and got fobbed with various excuses. we eventually started ringing them every day and expected a collection the same day or next, to no avail. Eventually towards the end of the week i got my partner to phone them. In no certain terms she warned them ist time and 2nd time she phoned them she told them the skip going on the road they flipped too, but she said she did not want to listen and put the phone down. They hastily collected it the next day. I was going to suggest you do the same and say you got a mate at work who knows someone that will move the skip out onto the road for you and then it be there responsibility but seems it might not work if you have already tried to scare them . Worth a try again but get someone who will sound really convincing and to the point. Arguing wont work.

Wont he need a licence from the local council for it to be in the road?

Is your payment for the skip up to date?

I have known skip lorries not to pick up skips till payment has been made.

We had the same problem but genuinely needed it moving as National grid were coming to connect us up to the mains gas. We explained this & they came the next day after sitting on our drive for nearly 1 month!

Just call up, stay calm and be polite and explain it's urgent as the gas board are coming and have said it must be removed. No harm in trying lol

Write, recorded delivery, saying needs to be removed within 7days, after that there will be a charge of £x a day for storage which will be recovered trough small claims court, if you really need the space- same letter with date for removal after which skip will be collected by another company and they will be billed for removal, storage, recovery of costs etc via small claims court
