EBICO Price Increase Imminent

To Ebico representative:
Could you please explain the following:
After looking up your recent price rises for sept 2011, based upon standard tariffs (not websaver / online etc..) it is now cheaper even as a low user to go elsewhere. Traditionally tier 1 / 2 rates have punished low users, and hence always been better for a single rate unit, but now even tier 1/2 and standing charges are cheaper then yourselves. I have also manually calculated against 3 different gas/elec suppliers on new price rises, one of them traditionally always been very uncompeative and expensive.
Ebico now punishes all , traditionally high end users but now punishes low users, more than traditional tier 1 and 2 rates, well done ebico, you have made yourselves completely uncompetative and useless to nearly all.0 -
Ebico Ltd
I’m sorry to tell you that we will have to increase the price of EquiPower by an average of 12.2% and EquiGas by 19.4% on 14 September 2011. A price increase has become unavoidable and a detailed letter is being sent to all customers. I know this is bad news and many will be worried about further price increases, so I can guarantee that our prices will now be capped at this level until at least March 2012. Phil
12.2% and 19% ? Where?
Following my calculation, this is what I find :
My gaz will go up by 25.3%
My electricity (economy 7) will go up by :
Day : 17.9%
Night : 24.3%
That is comparing what I pay now and what the ebico website said I will be paying in september for my area.
So, who will be paying 12.2% and 19% extra then? I am not even in the most expensive area.0 -
I think you've got your calculations wrong. Gas is the same price in every region and is going up from 4.011 p to 4.788 p. That's a 19.4% increase.
Edit: Actually, thinking about it, you get 25.3% if you take the old price excluding VAT (3.82 p) and the new price including VAT.0
