What does everyone think of daffodils for wedding flowers?

Has anyone had daffodils for wedding flowers?

If it is the right time of year it will be lovely. I got married in November and had local autumnal things - mainly foliage and berries. It was lovely. I don't see the point in importing flowers from Africa when there are always nice flowers available here.
  • Our soon to be best woman had a mixture of daffodils and tulips for her wedding. The bouquets were just daffodils though and they looked fantastic! The only problem I found was, as I caught the brides bouquet, they didn't last for that long, maybe 3 days after the wedding. But they bought a real vibrancy to the spring wedding.

The wedding is in April, I am just slightly concerned about how long the daffs will last. I want, 4 posies and a brides bouquet and buttonholes. Any ideas? I can't even find any pics online.

Very MSE indeed - just raid your local park... Joke! :D

Seriously though, I completely agree with chunkychocky about using seasonal flowers rather than importing stuff. Daffodils will be stunning at a Spring wedding.

I love daffs, I think they truly represent that Spring has arrived - they are so cheerful! I'd definitely be having them if I was having a spring wedding - go for it!:)

i really really really wanted daffodils for my wedding but as its at the end of May i had to rethink. i dont like the idea of importing flowers so i am going to ask our florist to get whatever she thinks on the day in the colours we have chosen. But if daffodils were in bloom i would be having them - i think they are absolutely lovely.

i also wanted daffodils as I'm Welsh so wanted to incorporate them somehow....however I'm getting married in October 2012 (can't afford it any sooner and didn't want to wait until the following Spring) so have had to put the stops on that one - looking forward to getting some lovely autumnal flowers, berries adn foliage for my bouquet though (like another OP).

daffodils could be really pretty for a spring wedding, but even april might be too late in the season to get local grown ones rather than imported, ours were all finished this year by mother's day ( 1st weekend in april) and there were none to be had by easter, unless we wanted the expensive dutch ones. they're also quite difficult to work with if you were going to do it yourself as the stems ooze sap when they're cut - if you're set on them though, maybe think about fake ones
