I know I could but why would I if I can get the very little extra I need paid by the government and therefore almost guarantee a pass and not be stressed and feel overworked, perhaps like yourself if your being honest, and you simply just cant compare your intelligent level to mine, yours is obviously greater because I know if I were to do them two courses at the same time I would not be able to pass either.I feel like I may struggle with this online diploma and only I know how much work I can handle.

mmmmmmmmmmmm I would now place your tin hat on your head and get ready to be "educated" by certain forum members

For what it is worth I will say it diplomatically :)

Why should the governemt pay your rent when you are more than capable of working more hours to pay it yourself. As our accountant friend said above in a roundabout way, you only get out what you put in...............................

I understand what you are saying, and i'd love for life to work that way. Check the website I posted earlier to see if you are entitled to anything.

It's nothing about my intelligence level (which fails me most of the time), but just managing your time correctly. If you can manage time correctly, you can do anything you want!

You may be able to get help with your rent if you're on a low income by claiming LHA.

However, I do think that you could work more hours than this as many people do more than you do when on a full time degree course.
  • It was just a question. Im not saying should they, Im saying would they?

    I know your not ;)

Listen the only way to get a real answer about this is to use the link Relic posted earlier for you:

    http://www.entitledto.co.uk/

input your details into this and you will see instantly what you can get and what you cannot.

Unfortunately there does not seem to be a lot of support for young single people such as yourself, whether this is right or wrong is not really my place to say but the above site will answer the majority of your questions for you.

Best of luck with it all ;)

No. Unless you have dependants or work more than 30 hours a week. Even then you would be well advised to look up the LHA for your area as the rent you quoted seems very high

I am close to being able to afford the rent with the part time job, just looking for a way to get the little extra cash I need.

Your rent will be £74 per week - do you have bills and council tax on top of that?
not sure how you expect to be able to pay all that and eat with working under 15 hours.
As said single people with no dependants or disabilities get very little assistance. Depending on your LHA rate you may get a small % of help.
You do need to look at increasing your income, finding somewhere cheaper (can you not stay at home)
Being independent is one thing but if you are relying on help from benefits then you are not really independent.
Doing an online course you should be able to be flexible with your hours - when I attended college, I went full time (which is not really full time) and worked full time shift work around my lectures (every weekend and 3 shifts during the week) I had no life but had bills to pay and received no grants/loans/benefits
  • I will be applying for local housing allowance, hopefully they will help me pay.

I gave the local council a call and they said I could receive £77 pound a week which would mean I would only have to pay £12 rent. That would be great.

Its £320 each for each month.
they said I could receive £77 pound a week which would mean I would only have to pay £12 rent.

£320 per month rent is under £74 per week so don't understand your maths

If you had no income the maximum they would pay is the rental figure (providing it is under the LHA rate) or the LHA rate if it is over
You will not get over the rent figure as payment and you will not get full rate if you are working

have you checked what the LHA for shared accommodation is in your area?
  • I am going on the basis that a month is 4 weeks so 320/4 = 80 pound each week.

The LHA is 77 pound in the area.
