Wedding dress question (may be upsetting)

A quick question-my wedding dress is taking up a lot of room in my cupboard. Instead of taking it to the charity shop I seem to remember a website where you could donate your wedding dress to provide clothes for babies who had died. Can anyone point me in the direction of this website if it's still in existence. Thanks

I've never heard of such a thing. And quite honestly I can't really understand why anyone would want clothes made out of someone else's wedding dress for their dead baby. Really? Why?
Sorry, I don't mean to be insensitive, I just really don't get it.0 -

well ive just looked, i would never have known any such thing existed.
a stupid question, but do people dress people (and babies) up when they die? i would have thought you;'re just wrapped up in a sheet or something?0 -

I think it is 'usual' for a favourite outfit to be chosen for the person to be buried/cremated in.
I suppose with a premature baby there is no such thing as a favourite outfit, hence this service. Thank god I've never been in that situation, and maybe that's why I still can't quite get my head round why you would want to use someone else's wedding dress for this.0 -
well i presume the emphasis is on wedding dresses as they are usually white or cream with nice fancy fabric, so would be suitable for a pretty outfit in this situation0

Thank you HeatherH, it seems to be only in America.
It may sound a bit goulish but when I lost my first baby I would have liked to have dressed her in a small gown and many wedding dresses are made of silk and as Puddy says they are white or cream, so would be ideal for this purpose. Its not for everyone though and I do understand that.
Looks like my dress will go to the charity shop though.

Hmm, I can see why you might want to bury a baby in something made from your own wedding dress, there is a tradition after all of making a christening robe out of a wedding dress, but why would you want to use a strangers?Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Why not put it on ebay and donate what you make on it to your local premature baby unit or something like that?0

By sheer coincedent I found a site the other day called Lisa's Stars, where Lisa is trying to make clothes for babies who are very sadly born sleeping, if you google for the site, I am sure she would be able to help.
I think it is a lovely thought and I am so sorry for the loss of your baby.
