We alternate our days: a day at home and day out. I hardly pay for anything as I take them to the free museums and activities in my town. We go for bike rides, I pack a picnic and go to the small local park, we go brambling, we collect stuff for a nature table, we pop on a bus, get an ice-cream and ride back on the bus, we build dens, I do treasure hunts, etc. The list goes on. I visit friends with kids too which kills a lot of time and I get to sit down. On the days we stay at home I expect them to find something to do. I'll help them with baking, cooking etc. We also go swimming once a week too. I sometimes enrol them in a day activity at the local sports centre. And sometimes, we make popcorn, draw the curtains and have a DVD day!
My oldest is 14 and he's in the Sea Cadets so he's pretty busy anyway but my 7yr old likes all of the above. Hope that helps!

We aren't going away during the summer hols either - everything was so expensive and I wouldn't take the kids out of school so we have to wait until October, got a week away booked then :)

Hubby is on hols from Monday so we have various things planned - Cinema trips to see Harry Potter and Cars 2, the Zoo, the Museum, Almond Valley park, the Beach - lots to do.

Obviously it's easier when hubby is off but when he isn't it's local trips to the park or somewhere easy to get to. And our local library has various activity days running which keeps them occupied as well

Hoping to get some more nice days - they are happy playing in the garden with the sand and water tables on nice days and having a picnic, DS2 will happily scooter in the rain though :rotfl:

    Pigpen i hope your ok?

I know kids can got out in rain and wont melt we get drenched on the school run often enough and realise they can play using their own imagination, they often do but sometimes its nice to do something together as a family and these lil things are a good way of spliting up the fighting.

    Cheers me dears
