Next week dh is off owrk so we plan to go to the beach and a museum which will both cost us the train fares and a packed lunch. Am a little bit stumped as to what else i can do to keep them entertained for the other 5 weeks. hope the weather gets nicer so we can go out and they can play out ect.

Nothing... I can barely walk.
I have considered a trip to Sundown but i don't even know when their moron father is having them yet.. I only gave him holiday dates in April and asked for a decision.. ggrrrrr..
Other than that I may manage a couple of seaside days.. they run off and dig and I sit and watch.
OH may take a few ice skating and they may be dragged to the park.. they are happy enough pottering about at home most days.
It all depends on who I can rope into help.. I don't drive, I can't walk far I definitely can't chase children and I hate sand!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Do they have bikes? Could you find a nice river towpath somewhere where they could ride their bikes while you walk then stop for a picnic and to feed the ducks?
A trip to the big pet outlets (that sell fish/birds/rabbits etc) is like a mini zoo trip and whiles away an hour (the one I used to take my son to had a McD's next door so make that 2 hours!)Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

You can always get cheap arts/crafts type activities for them to do during the rainy days.
Have an in house "cinema" day get the couches/chairs together, lights out and curtains closed, make microwavable popcorn.
Bake fairy cakes/biscuits and let them decorate? Or even rice krispie cakes, make there own pizzas etcThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
I think parents worry far too much these days about their children being bored.
Why do parents feel the need to fill their childrens day for them, yes a couple of trips out is nice but so is playing round the house using thier imagination.
Boredom breeds imagination!!!!I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
We have just come back our holidays so this is our mega skint weekend lol.
Like others I shall be getting out the paints, making cakes, watching dvd's. Might make a treasure map for hidden sweets. Granted if dry outside they are quite happy left to it in the back garden.
Might even teach kids how to make some soup and homemade bread, granted might just be eldest DD (nearly 8) who is interested enough. Already have nail polish and facemasks put aside.
Our library is holding story sessions too, so might be worth checking out.
Hope the weather holds off then it's a walk round the loch with some sandwiches.0 -
I have alot planned for the 7 weeks mine are off!
We have planned a couple of daytrips out, the rest of the time we'll be on the beach, water parks and playarks, meet ups with friends, craft and baking days, walks and swimming.
I am lucky that we live in area that is very child friensly and have ALOT of chrap or free resources to keep them busy!0 -
On the day trip front is it worth getting a family rail card to save money? Also some of the coach companies have really cheap deals on too.
Another idea is to get a flower/insect/bird/butterfly book out of the library and take the children out on a Natural History hunt and see how many plants and animals they can identify.0 -
check out your lcaol councils website to see whats on at the Leisure Centre/ Library / in the parks etcPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

What about seeing what your local sure start / children's centre has to offer over the summer holidays? Mine has teddy bears picnics, treasure hunts, safari trail, construction themed park day etc.
Good luck0 -
if you go on some of the main parenting forums there are lots of ideas.:footie:0
