Quick Question

When you pay your monthly bill (on contract) are you paying for the month ahead or the month before? (This is with O2. I don't go over the text/minutes/data allowance).

Example:

Bill date - 27 June (same date every month)
Payment taken - 11 July (same date every month)

Contract ends - 26 July

Will I still have one month left to pay (i.e on 11 August) to pay off the contract? (I'll be changing to PAYG).

Thanks.

Usually payment gets taken in advance. This information has to be shown clearly in the bill.

Just to clarify, paid in advance except charges outside your allowance which is billed in arrears. So you will still get a bill in August but it may be £0.00.

Note that if you haven't given 30 days' notice the contract won't cancel at all until you do!

On O2, asking to change to Pay as You Go (which the OP has done ) is sufficient to give notice.

Thanks for your answers. Hopefully, it won't be difficult to change to PAYG. (And, yes, I'll be sticking with O2 - never had problems with them before).

Edit: Oh, I just read an e-mail from O2 telling me that they'll send me a Pay & Go sim and when I transfer my number on to it my contract will end automatically. Luckily, I don't have to give 30 days notice but that could be because the contract runs out next week anyway.
