Wife working for nothing basically?
Comments
-
If she is working to get benefits and not for the money she earns, what is the issue? Obviously you know you would be worse off if she didn't work as your wages may mean you are not entitled to benefits.
For benefit purposes it is not just your wife's income that is calculated, yours is also - so your earnings have an effect on how much wtc etc you get.
As she is working just so she can claim benefits, then you HAVE to add the benefits she gets each week to her wages - and then say, well she is working for something, rather than nothing! If she is getting £90 wages and say £50 benefits, the reality is she is working for £140 per week......
Utter rubbish!
The chances are they would get MORE if she did not work regardless that is the whole point!
If she stops working then HE will claim the WTC and CTC which because their income will have fallen should naturally be increased, they live together so his wages will already be declared.

oooooo easy tiger I did type up a bit of a horrid post for you I have got rid of it now as there is no place for nonsense here so...................
Since judging from your other posts you seem to be a bit of a demon with the old tax credits go on then I am all ears what have I said that is wrong????
If any of the advice I had given was wrong (which BTW to save you time it is not) believe me on this forum it would have been pointed out already by someone probably a lot more knowledgable than you an me both, nethertheless I am all ears

It has but you have chosen to ignore it.
As you are such an expert do tell me of criteria of WTC and CTC and why a joint claim of WTC which is based on household income would have to be be transferred from op's wife to the op.
I wait with baited breathe.

Ahem, the OP has already stated they would be much worse off if she did NOT work. You clearly have no clue how the system works, in particular WTC  I think you have read the thread title without reading the OP's posts....

I had not had an email to say you had responded to this thread, oh well never mind better late than never
I have to say LOL! This really is a meager detail rather than the advice I gave being completely wrong but nethertheless I will answer your point, click the link below have a look towards the bottom of the page:
http://taxcredits.hmrc.gov.uk/Qualify/WhatAreTaxCredits.aspx
I will also quote as I know your attention to detail is not so good
"Working Tax Credit is paid to the person who is working 16 hours or more a week. Couples, if both of you are working 16 hours or more a week, must choose which one of you will receive it. You cannot receive Working Tax Credit if you are not working."
I suppose HMRC have it wrong now as well??
Peace Out

I read the thread just fine thank you
I have a feeling the OP has this opinion as they have NOT actually bothered to do any real research to see exactly where they would be hence the request for advice, seen as they have not bothered to return I caannot really say.......................................
I did a quick breakdown in another post in this thread that showed before any increase in CTC (which they would naturally get if the wife quits work) they would be around £35 worst off on paper, HOWEVER as said this is before the natural increase in CTC.
It is amazing the amount of people who say "you have not read the thread properly" then go on to make silly comments showing that in actual fact it is THEY who have not read the thread properly :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: "You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -

Not sure how you can work out what someone would be entitled to without knowing all the figures - a rough breakdown at best, but it would be totally inaccurate.
It sounds like you have been subjected to "you have not read the thread properly" posts before “How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
