Toyota Aygo - anyone got one?

I'm thinking of buying an Aygo because I need a small, reliable and economical car. Toyota always gets good reviews so is an Aygo any good?

I understand the equivalent, with only minor differences, Peugeot and Citroen (107 & C1?) are made at the same factory and same workforce in eastern Europe and are cheaper, so why pay more for a "badge"?0

Correct, they are pretty much the same car. Made in the same factory, from the same parts, by the same people.
The Citroen had the highest spec for the lowest price when I was looking for one for my Mum earlier this year.0 -
There's supposed to be a problem with all these 3 models in that you can break into them in under 3 seconds. (See Which? magazine). If you can live with this then go ahead.Nice to save.0

I've had a Toyota Aygo since April 2006. It's a great little car and very economical in terms of road tax, petrol and insurance. I did read something about all 3 models and the speed with which they can be broken into but I would not let it put you off. Lets face it, if you leave something on display in your car then of course there is a risk someone may break into it, it can happen regardless of the type of car you have!0

Thanks for the replies. I asked a lady who was parking next to me yesterday if she liked her Aygo and if she would recommend it. She said it was a great wee car and the only thing she would change is the size of the boot but the back seats could fold down so she could work around that. I didn't know about the speed of breaking into one but I think that wouln't put me off. I'm going to get a test drive in one and if everything goes ok I think my mind's made up to get one."Life's too short to stuff a mushroom" - Shirley Conran...she wasn't an Old Styler then, was she? :rotfl:0

Go for the Yaris a much better and more reliable car. Now the new shape is out i'm sure you will find a good price on an old shape 55/ 06 reg. Smile, you only get one life, LIVE IT.0

You can break into all sorts of cars in that time frame. Ultimately, a swift elbow on a window will find a way in to nearly any car in well under three seconds...
As for the Aygo, as has already been said, it is fundamentally the same car as the Citroen C1 and Peugeot 107. There's a difference in price - the C1 is about £500 cheaper than its twins - but the specs are pretty much the same. I know people that have decided between the trio on purely cosmetic terms, and that's probably not unreasonable.
However, I'd like to throw in another option. At exactly the same price as the Aygo and 107 (i.e. from about £6,300 upwards) you could buy the ever so slightly larger and better to drive Citroen C2.0 -
After reading the latest posts, I'm undecided! I'll test drive a Yaris but I can't afford a new one. Maybe I'll get a good deal on a 55 plate as suggested."Life's too short to stuff a mushroom" - Shirley Conran...she wasn't an Old Styler then, was she? :rotfl:0

I liked the look of it, but the boot was far too small to fit my buggy into. The Yaris wasn't a lot better and I could only get the buggy in if I took the wheels off. Not sure if this is a consideration for you, but it does give some indication of the boot size. I went for the VW Fox in the end, which is the same sort of size and price, but has a much bigger boot.0
