A lot more than you'd think! When we went to Whales we got cheap travelodge rooms for 5 nights and ended up spending as much as we did staying in a hotel dbb! Even with cereal in our room and picnic lunches you need to allow £30-50 for a meal out plus drinks and snacks such as icecreams. Then entrance fees to castles and fun fairs are usually about £40 for a family. Although there's a lot you can do without paying to get in!0

have a look whats to do in and around the local area and then print discount vouchers out at home before you goMad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!0 -

Theres a slow cooker in the chalet so think I will take some chicken, stewing steak and mince beef from the freezer. buy veggies and take more staples so at least we can have sweet n sour chicken 1 night, spag bol another and a stew. Thought about a carvery on Sunday (bound to be a cheapy pub somewhere), pizza another night and maybe a chinese another night. And of course the traditional fish n chips whilst watching the sun go down over the sea.Sealed Pot Challenge member #982

Alot depends on weather and the ages of the kids . Most things with brochures costs money. Cadw wales gives you some discounts into castles http://www.cadw.wales.gov.uk/ The beaches in Dinas Dinlle / Nefyn and all around Anglesey are free (except you pay to park at Newborough) Food - Tescos/Morrisons & Asda all in town. Exceptional Garage at the top by roundabout. McyDs & KFC 1.5 miles & Take away on site (pizzas ok rest not bad but boring) Restaurant on site not too bad either.(meals adult about £5/6 kids £3/4 )Pizzas in town Caernarfon Kebab & Pizza (bridge st) Fish n Chips Ainsworths next door or Golden Cod (bontnewydd)or travel down to Dinas and get the full beachside chippy with parking walking and sitting outside with the waves, Indian Sopna (eat in) & Bengal Cusine Castle St deliver too right to your door.Chinese next to Iceland & Peacocks is better than everydays on the square. Roast Dinner treat yourself to a meal at The Black Boy Inn http://www.caernarfon.com/blackboy.html or Newborough Arms Bontnewydd ,Table Table y Harbour do meal deals.weatherspoons in Bangor & Caernarfon both good ok for kids Snowdon Parc Waunfawr great meals and big kids portions. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CRABBING OFF BEAUMARIS PIER OR CAERNARFON MARINA FOR A CHEAP DAY OUT. You may think you wont like it you will ALL love it.Addictive.. Padarn Lake, Llanberis and slate mesuem free.Check out Greenwood Forest for discounts (not too sure as its the kids hols). Enjoy Wales .. hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

If self catering picnics are the cheapest lunch option. Supermarkets with cafe's aren't glamorous, but they are good value.0

I pretty much work on the basis of £100 a day when going anywhere. If i'm going somewhere for 5 days i'll make sure I have £500 in the bank, hopefully I won't spend anywhere near that. If the weather is good then you do tend to spend a bit less as you can get walking/beaches etc.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

I think £100 a day is a reasonable amount for a family holiday in this country but I also think you can do it for a lot less if you need to.
The one piece of advice I would give is to work out how much you can afford to spend before you go then draw this out daily or every couple of days in cash. This way you can keep track of your spending and not go over budget.
We once had a very wet week away in the UK with the kids and I nearly passed out when I checked my online banking when we got home. I really didnt have a clue how much I had spent and it took me ages to get back on track!
My kids are a bit older and love to get involved in how we spend the daily budget on holiday, I know it sounds a bit scrooge like but we have to be careful with our finances and this works for us.0
