travelodge canceled my room

I'm having a right nightmare with my travelodge october half term breakaway!
I booked two nights in the travelodge sale but somehow only one went through as a family room. I emailed customer services asking for an amendment (I thought there might be a £5 fee) but after 5 days had no response so rang up and was told it could not be amended. I would have to move rooms mid stay.
I thought that I could solve my problem by asking my parents to join us. I booked a full price family room for the night I had a double and a double for the night I had a family so I had a double and a family for both nights.
Now I get a email from CS saying they have cancelled my original double room and taken a £5 fee and given me a credit code for the rest. I didn't ask for a cancellation. I always intended to use the room if it couldn't be amended. Now I'm left with no room for my parents on the second night or paying for another full price room. I'm fuming.

I rang them but they'd gone home by 5.30 I have emailed them but may still ring in the morning. Email reponse was very slow and we're away on our summer hols at the weekend (ironically including one night at a travelodge). Who is it best to ask for? Customer services? I spoke to the hotel itself and two other departments this morning. One was on a number the hotel gave me the other was a booking option on a menu when I rang to number for the hotel.

I used the HQ number I got off an old thread earlier. Just tried one off 118 and got an American lady who said they'll get cs to call me in the morning. Hopefully they do - these 10p a minutes are adding up, got to be over 30 mins overal today:eek:

Thanks, have found an 0871 number but haven't used it yet. I though I'd wait a while and see if they do ring me.
  • oops, that's 10p too. Got impatient waiting and rang it but guy says cs don't have a phone number and I must email. Also tried two other say no numbers one just goes to an answering machine giving the 0871 number the other is 01844358500 which says is 10p and put me on hold for ages, so I hung up.
