Could you perhaps set this fight to music? It is most entertaining and the UK has not done very well at the Eurovision song contest lately

OP, I just tried what you said (re the iphone) and clicked through the several links to get to the correct info and it took me 4 clicks and about 2 seconds! Hardly the 'all those hours' you mention.

As for having to read the entire page to find the link - either your eyesight is poor, or your reflexes must be slow. On each page it takes a barely perceptable flick of the eyes over it to spot the correct link and click on it.

Don't see a problem myself.

Oh, but just to add further to the debate (and in case MSE bods do read this), I read an article in a website development magazine whilst sitting in a doctors waiting room recently. The mag was about a year old and the article was entitled something like, 'worlds worst websites'. One of the first websites in the article was moneysavingexpert.com!:D From memory, I think the criticism was mainly about the layout, not navigation, but I may be wrong.

Edit - found it!

MSE webmaster may want to grab himelf a copy and see what they have to say!

I was using a bit of exageration to illustrate the point. I agree when you know where you are clicking it doesn't take too long. But why send me round the houses in the first plance? Plus, it is much quicker and easier for those used to links and websites. But many who use this site will be completely stumped by it. If my mum clicked a link and something about tax credit came up she would literally give up. She would assume she did something wrong.

Interesting. Maybe it is layout as well. But I just don't find MSE an easy site to navigate. It is almost too much info.

Thanks for your thoughts, and perhaps I am just being a bit OTT, but I just don't follow the logic of having a note about the iPhone, and a link that takes you somewhere else. Sure, have an advert for the email, link that to the email. But in that box on the right, why split it out in to 10 items, all of which have individual links, but all of which link off to the email and not the info advertised.

Redneck. King of the internet. Use it his way, or don't use it at all!

:p
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
• Op I agree. Almost without really realising why, I have stopped using the site as often due to similar frustrations.

I too have to agree.

I had exactly the same experience with the iphone 4 cashback link an hour before reading this vent. If it wasn't for the fact that I already knew the inefficient way MSE takes you round the houses to get anywhere, I would have assumed the link was broken.

Another problem that I've come across:

A while ago, I started getting this when I either clicked a link in my topic reply emails or on a page that I was looking at:
Bad Request

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Size of a request header field exceeds server limit.

I cleared my cache, rebooted etc, asked my techy hubby and techy neighbour, no joy. So I emailed the webmaster.

I got an auto reply with links that I'd already gone through, but noticed this:
Last resort contact details

Please, please, please try the above links first! There aren't the resources to answer individual questions, so this is only if your question definitely isn't answered any other way you can contact us via furtherhelp@moneysavingexpert.com and we will endeavour to assist you as much as possible; though if the answer is covered by the above we’ll just send a link.
Kind regards

So, I emailed back using the above email addy.

I'm still awaiting a reply.

The problem is sporadic. ATM I'm having to use IE to look at MSE which is a pain as I'm having to copy the addy in my email (on firefox) then paste it in IE.

It's advertising, despite what MSE claim about being ad. free. At best you are forced to skim read to find what you want and what you have read registers...guess who gets the money for the clicks?

Yes, agree, imo it is a revenue generation exercise. Annoying thing is I don't think they sous actually get less if it was easy to navigate. Maybe even more. But hey ho, up to them I guess.
