MSE Website Sucks

  • MSE doesn't use ads, just links. No problem with that. I'm happy to click on link and generate some revenue for the site. I just don't see why they have to squeeze every last penny by forcing people round as many pages as possible. Is it too much to ask that if a link says "cashback on iPhone" it actually takes you direct to the info on "cashback for iPhone"?

isnt the piece you are talking about really an advert for the MSE email, which most will read anyway the link for iphones simply takes you to the email nothing more nothing less

Why? Has it changed since I read it earlier?

I just thought you could maybe turn this unproductive 'ranting' into something a little more useful such as giving the MSE administration some feedback on where their site may be failing and how to improve. :)

This is the Praise, VENT and warnings forum. I'm venting. Do you post similar advice in every other thread on here that has a moan?
  • Redneck wrote: »
    No I don't.

But then most people venting about a given issue that they've identified don't have a place just a little further down the forum specifically designed to let users raise issues of that precise nature and bring them to the attention of the people in charge, do they? :)

And no doubt that just about every company that is subject to a vent on here has a customer feedback or complaints page. But sometimes people like to vent. I was frustrated by the convoluted navigation and so put up a vent of my own. Get over it. This a vent, so it is in the vents forum.

Get over what? You seem to misunderstand, I'm not disputing the fact that that this is a vent.

I'm merely pointing out that rather than post your 'vent' here where it will achieve nothing, you could post it in the dedicated Site Feedback forum (since your vent is essentially feedback about the site) where the issues that you have identified and taken the time to vent about would be brought to the attention of those with the power to deal with them. :)

Blimey. Broken record. Please re-read post 4. Rightly or wrongly I'm of the opinion it will not make any difference. I wanted to vent. That is what I'm doing. Thank you for the suggestion of posting in site feedback, but I decline your suggestion for the reason I have noted on several occasions.

And you've done so. You insist on stating this over and over but this has never been in question.. :)

A shame, since you've raised a few interesting points about issues with the site that, for some inexplicable reason you wish to raise as part of your vent but don't wish to raise with anyone who has the ability to rectify them.

In your original post you even go so far as to quite literally ask MSE for an answer...

...but when someone makes the quite reasonable suggestion that you ask that same question in the part of the board created specifically to ask such questions, you become shy and quite defensive.

A little contradictory you'd have to admit? :)

I take it you are not familiar with rhetorical questions? And I don't see why it is defensive because I don't follow your advice.

Anyway. Many thanks for ruining this thread. I was interested to hear if others shared my frustration. Instead there are now 25 posts about which forum it should be in. But can't be bothered anymore today, goodnight.
  • come on guys calm down after all the piece that it been moaned about is just an advert for the weekly email :)

IMHO as the OP's purpose in posting was to 'vent' they posted on the correct forum.

Press ctrl+f and type in 'iphone' you'll find the bit of the page you need eventually!

    Yes. Site Feedback. ;)
    26. Please, you have made your point (several times), putting it in bold isn't going to make any difference, lets just agree to disagree and move along.

Thanks Gemjar, and no doubt there are better ways of finding items on here. But why should we need to do that? It just seems stupid that if you click on something that states "X" you end up at "Y" just because they want you to read their whole email. It really isn't complicated to link "X" to "X". There are times when something catches your eye, you just want to spend 10 seconds looking at that item. I don't want to have to read the whole list of everything that is in the email every time I want to look at one individual item. But guessing from your response this doesn't annoy you to the same degree as I!
