I also find that moving from address and changing ones name frequently helps to cloud the matter even further , water Co s are reluctant to chase people from county to county .
What you don't pay for, others have to fork out to make up the shortfall whether it is from earned wages or benefits.

what about paying wages for staff who'se job it is to filter, purify the stuff and ensure the pipes are kept in good order.
At least in this country we can turn on our taps and get clean safe drinking water, I think our water costs are a bargain. Just look at what is going on in Somalia right now, we live like kings compared to those families.Be happy, it's the greatest wealth 0 0

If you fail two payment arrangements they can do this, and the gas and electricity companies can also do this I believe.
You say you haven't had any payment arrangement and it is not in your name, therefore you must be claiming for your wife and it must be in her name. If you geniunely have not had any payment arrangement - either you or your wife, and your bill is up to date, then you need to do something about it as this is not right.
However, I highly suspect that there has been a payment arrangement that you have defaulted on - remember thst paymrnt arrangements are a last resort and two defaults with any company would force you off the payment arrangement and the company taking it further.
You simply cannot default on payment arrangements nowadays - and as water is a necessity to live, therefore it is something you need, they are well within their rights to do this. After all, you didn't pay your bill, then didn't pay the arrangement, how else are they going to deal with getting the money off you without cutting you off? I can certainly see a rant if they had cut you off!
You should be thankfull they are not taking it further, with someone who earns wages, they are likely to.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0

Oh come on, you know that water is the most valuable commodity ever on earth - without it we would be dead. It is more valuable than any material item out there! Everybody should therefore budget for it, even on benefits - you are not seriously saying you want free water just because you are on benefits are you?
That kind of attitude gives other people on benefits a bad name - it's little wonder why some see those on benefits as !!!!!!!!!!s. “How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 “How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0

You can always out up buckets and collect it.
If you water to come out of the tap, you'll have to pay. 0 0

So in short the situation is this :- if one is on benefits then normal rights of appeal are removed normal avenues usually required to make deductions from a persons Income by way of court action are removed . The water company has no requirement to prove the debt to the DWP the person owing the money cant dispute it with them . They have to approach the Water Company who know that person has no right of Appeal , so arent exactly going to be helpful on the subject . The person on benefits is treated like a subhuman . No proof of contract is required, in my case my name isnt even on the Water Account in yet i am held liable under an imaginary contract which i hav never held with the Water Co . To say oh well you live there is perhaps morally right but has quite few flaws legally on many points of law . If i took this to court i would win the case the Water Company has no proof of contract with me my wife is the Ac holder , you cannot just switch the debt to someone else willy nilly , in the same way that a lodger in your house wouldnt be held accountable for council tax if you refused to pay it . A husband is not liable for his wifes debts under English law feel free to check it out , although there are bailiffs who will tell you different .0

I have not been in this situation personaly but having read some sites about it I can only find it says you have to ask to have deductions from your benefits for utility bills, I cant find anywhere it says they can just take them with out your consent, but as I said I dont know I might just not have been able to find something on it.
Im sure the water company couldnt just phone up and say you have missed a couple of payments can they stop the money, they must have had to show them proof, also when the payment plans were set up by the company is there anywhere in the small print that says if you miss any payments then they can go to the DWP to have them stopped? It could be something you havent seen but still signed the contract, it might be worth having a look.0

Objector yet you dont object to drinking and washing in it and others who also may be on benefits, paying higher charges even for the fact you are a scrounger:rotfl:0
