Parking Eye - Wythenshawe

I recently received a parking fee demand from Parking Eye for overstaying in a Wythenshawe shoppers car park.

I know it wasn't me as I was picking up my daughter & all of her stuff from down south that day, using my wife's hatchback, and I've had no good reason to use that car park in recent times. My wife insists it wasn't her and there are others who could legitimately have had use of my vehicle that day.

I didn't respond to say that either there was a mistake or someone else was using it, just in case it was my wife and they have photo evidence to prove it. Having received a follow-up letter this time with photos that eliminate the possibility of a mistake, I decided to do some research.

I see the advice is mostly to just ignore as their appeals process is a farce. I'm not worried as the clearer the photos the more it will prove it wasn't me, and it will be a laugh if they take me to court and the photos indicate that it was likely a female driver! :rotfl:The exit photo was of the whole of the car rear; the entrance photo was mostly of tarmac stopping short of the windscreen. This is surely intentional to avoid revealing that they don't have a clear snapshot of the driver!

Should I continue to just ignore these letters?

It just says "Wythenshawe Shopping Centre Public Car Park". I'm not even sure which one that is!

Thanks everyone for the unanimous advice. I'll continue to ignore.

Hello all. I have just recieved a PCN from Parking eye stating i was parked in motorway services from just before midnight to 07:40 am the following morning. They have not provided any evidence of this. The main point being is that the vehicle was parked there for approx on hour between 7 and 8am while having a break from driving. I
I have been reading various forums who advise me to ignore them, im concerned i will end up with a bigger fine or be blacklisted credit wise. Any advice appreciated

If you read further you will also see that the chance of anything more than threats is almost zero and that because of this the threat to your credit status is below zero.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

    It's not a fine.

It's an unsolicited invoice, a bit like a phishing email asking for money. If you got such an email and deleted it, do you honestly think the originator could blacklist your name for not sending the cash by Western Union? No. Of course not!

SAME SCAM. Ignore the parasites, forget about contacting them, it's not a crime to park at a motorway services and you owe nothing.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    Hi Molly 57,
Ignoring them will not affect your credit rating unless they take u to court (v unlikely), u get told by the court to pay them and u still refuse to pay.
I got a letter from them a month or two ago saying Id overstayed my welcome in their car park. I was offered a discount if I paid within so many days but the date the letter arrived was much later than the date on the letter. I realised they were probably holding it back so they could say I paid too late and that they were probably rip off merchants. I wrote to them saying I wasnt paying them anything as I was unaware of the terms as hadnt seen the signs and also that I was using the gym of which I am a member (we are meant to be able to use the car park for an unlimited time). They responded saying if I sent in a copy of my membership card within 7 days they would consider my case. But, guess what, the letter arrived 5 days after the date on the letter. So even if Id rushed out in the morning to find a photocopier then send it first class it was doubtful Id make this deadline. So I just thought what a load of cr*p and ignored any more letters. Ive since been on here and there is a lot of advice on Parking Eye on MSE if u have a look around. General advice is dont pay and ignore.
I have received my third letter which says if I dont pay £80 by a certain date, it will go up to £110 then it will go to a debt collectors, then solicitors could take me to court, if I dont pay after that I could receive a Judgement then have bailiffs come round. Drama! This is probably a standard letter they send out to scare people into paying them. What really happens it seems is they send about four letters then drop it when u continue to ignore them.
I think there is a guide to parking charges on MSE but I dont know how to post links.
