I'm going to disagree with you on this one.

    Op ordered:

    2 starters, 1 MAIN MEAL, 2 desserts

I take the offer as meaning 1 starter and 1 dessert for £1.50 each PER MAIN MEAL.

I agree with this, DH and I went to one had a main meal each and got our £1.50 starters each no problems.

It say's from your quote 'A main meal' Surely a main meal is singular? I would have taken that as 1 per meal.

Being humiliated is self induced usually due to a person taking something far to seriously.

Yes but that's you making up T&Cs for yourself as you go along.

The offer says ALL starters AND desserts £1.50. If they wanted to state one starter and one dessert per main meal, then they should say so.

All to me means all the different types, not how many.
  • Should I send a letter of complaint to Whitbread?

Whitbread sold Brewers Fayre to Mitchell & Butler on the 1st September 06.

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.

Don't think much of Brewer's Fayre either.
A while ago we went to eat out there with DD, brother, SIL and 2 nieces. Younger niece, then aged about 4, had a burger. As she picked up the massive burger the meat part slipped out from inside the bread bun and onto the floor. We asked the waitress if she could have a replacement and they said yes but it would be charged on the bill. Tight gits! Have never darkened their doors since.
They don't know anything about customer goodwill.

All starters and all desserts only £1.50*

    * Available Monday to Saturday 12:00 – 6:00pm. Valid only when purchased with a main meal or snack. Sharing Starters and Desserts £3.

So you bought 1 main meal, got charged £1.50 each for your 2 starters and you think you were ripped off by being charged full price for the desserts? Sorry, but I think they were perfectly within their rights. Although I can see a line of argument for wanting one of the desserts at the £1.50 instead.

I would have said it's quite clear that you get 1 dessert and pudding for £1.50 per main meal.

I don't understand why you expected a free meal, due to one of your party being careless?

Fair enough if the waitress dropped a meal, but when it's your own fault, the restaurant has no obligation to give you a free meal.
Here I go again on my own....
