Ebay seller wont accept return

Hi I bought an item on Ebay and the item was not in the condition as described. I emailed to ask to let him know that I wish to return the item and he says that he wont accept the return.
Is there any thing I can do about it?

Thanks

Just open a dispute in Paypal for Item Not As Described.

Then send it back via a fully trackable method.

No, you'll get back what you paid incl original postage but will have to pay for return postage yourself

thanks I opened a case and wont send back till told by PP or Ebay. I opened a case with Ebay, do I also need to notify Paypal?

and I just noticed that the listing said NO RETURNS ACCEPTED, does that make any difference?

no not at all. sellers still don't seem to get that putting that is pointless as paypal will refund a buyer on return of an item

Just follow the steps and make sure you send the item trackable when told. How much is it worth?
  • and next time remember to open it with paypal as they are usually more effective, but don't bother with them now.

You should have gone to Paypal NOT Ebay. However, the word 'don't' should be replaced by 'can't' as you can only have one dispute option, either Paypal or Ebay, not both.

Escalate the Ebay case as soon as you can. It may take a while as they seem to have a 'how long is a piece of string' mentality. Once they have reviewed, they should ask you to send it back. You must do this via an online trackable means, but be aware that recorded is not always reliable and only covers to £46 with a certificate of posting.

but that's only if it's faulty or not as described isn't it?
You can still put 'no returns' if you don't have a returns policy can't you? A private seller isn't covered by DSR's so if the buyer changes their mind after receiving the goods the seller isn't obliged to accept them back.

You'd think so, unfortunately I found that it's not the case if a buyer opens dispute with paypal, finds any a ridiculous excuse as to why it's "not as described" or just lies (in my case it was "length of the dress is 5 inches longer than described", which it absolutely definately wasn't-I double checked when it was returned to me) and paypal will side with them and will refund when they return it to seller. I had this over a year ago though, so maybe something has changed. I even specifically let it go to paypal dispute as I was sure paypal would side with me as the item WAS as described.
