We're left guessing here, but if it appears in the list of recently used or favourite applications when you click on start, it will not be slowing your computer down and you can remove it from the list by right clicking on it and selecting "Remove from this list"

Do you mean Google Instant? If so open Google, click on the cog in the top right corner of the page, select Search Settings and click "Do not use Google Instant"0

At the top right you will see a cog button. Click on it and go to Search Settings.
Scroll down to the Google instant setting. Select Do no use Google Instant.
Press Save Preferences button at the bottom of the page.0 -

I would doubt if that is slowing your computer down much.
