Work Programme

Advisers can not tell you a lot about work programme as there is no set programme. Providers can decide on an individual basis how much support they offer depending on the individual - this document lists providers and the minimum service they have agreed to deliver
    http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/provider-minimum-service-delivery.pdf
In practice a lot of providers are still organising themselves and it may be several months before they fully deliver what they have promised

This made for interesting reading. Ages ago I applied for a job with working links through either reed.co.uk or totaljobs. They sent me an email saying I had to apply on their website. When I looked at their website I thought it looked like a scam so I didn't bother :rotfl:

The provider should not submit you for jobs without your knowledge or agreement.

The Jobcentre would not do this.

Just as at Jobcentre should not give you jobs to apply for, you should discuss & agree to take details to apply.

There is a subtle but important difference.

If provider submits you for job without your knowledge, if you tell them that you want to discuss future jobs, that's what they must/should do.

You're the person applying for the job, not them.
i agree they shouldnt but thats how it is. really its easier if they just put you forward without talking about it with you first. why? well because if they contact you you will have all the hassle from them. they wont accept not liking the job as a good enough reason to not apply. so you willl end up with a load of gbh of the earhole and end up giving in and applying or if you still refuse to apply probably end up getting sanctioned.

no Donna they dont well Maximus didnt on mine...
you did not sign anything during your first appointment? well until you do i suspect they will be breaking the law if they pass your details onto an employer. of course they know you arent going to hire a lawyer to sue them about it so theres nothing stopping them.

@Reverbe how often you do attend Maximus and what are you're hours? also how do they decide who comes in the mornings, afternoons and early evenings? because I hear it goes by your surname? i.e people with surname begining with A must come in the mornings, is this correct? is it possible you can change your hours to mid-afternoons or evenings?

About CVs and personal info being sent to third parties I just recently heard from someone that they only send your details/CVs with your knowlege prior. They said folks have no reason to refuse their details-CVs going to third parties/employers as it's the same thing as applying for a job yourself except they (Maximus) do it with you and for you, but with you're knowlege. Basically they tell you first where your CVs and info is going and where..But is this all different then actually signing forms/waivers where by our personal goes to third parties? then again the forms we fill don't they state to whome out details go to? if so then we don't have a valid reason to refuse our details being passed on to employers?

Someone I know took refusal letters with her to the work Programme and told her that you have no reason to refuse and if you do then it shows you're not serious about looking for work and not actively seeking work as agreed on your jobseekers-allowance. They said to her why do you want to refuse giving your details to perpective employers. They told her any info/details/CVs you give go to third parties with your knowledge, they basically tell you first where and when your CVs or any personal details go to employers & third parties. So it seems those refusal letters aren't going to get people anywhere?.. In a way if we say no and don't want our details/CVs going to employers through work-programme it kind of shows we are in the wrong? like I said they told her they will let her know first where her details will be going and when, so really these refusal letters are invalid? instead of us applying the jobs ourselves they basically apply for us or with us, but at least with our knowledge, so if we refuse what reason do we give? if anything it attacts sanctions right?
there were many times when i got told after the event by my adviser. i would go in for the usual appointment and get told, oh i sent your cv to this company last week etc.

i cant see a provider or the jobcentre accepting you turning down a job because you didnt put the application forward yourself. the only way out would be to show good reason why you shouldnt apply.
can you envisage as I did being contacted by an employer with reference to the application that you have no idea :you" made??? What exactly does one do or say in that scenario??

It's bad enough when you apply for so many, get contacted and they expect you to recall off the top of your head every single job you apply for??? So sorry.. I actually apply for about 50 a day?? LOL They seem to think you only ever apply for their job and their job alone and can recall all about it whouth checking your records..
