DON'T BE SEDUCED BY IT!!!!
These mags are always begun in January just as we have all made our new years resolutions to learn a new skill (or lose tons of weight etc). They heavily discount the first one or two and then you are hooked.
Look at what the full cover price will be and multiply it by the number of issues........... you'll be horrified.
Get a book from the library or buy a really good reference book if you have to, but don't start collecting these part works.
OK, rant over.

Normally I would agree but as these come with a DVD showing you exactly how to do it, I can't.
If after all these years something teaches me how to follow a pattern and knit something more than a scarf it will be money well spent.
After all how much money is spent on evening classes and as yet I haven't discovered one of those for knitting.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

When I was teaching myself to knit a few years ago I found lots of little videos online of stitch demonstrations.... why don't you try that first? Also, I asked around the women I knew of my mother's generation and those that knitted were really happy to help me. I just used books from the library, and now when I'm knitting (it's summer here in NZ! too hot!) I also browse knitting blogs (of which there are hundreds!) to get inspiration/help.
good luck.

Somebody posted a link to a site with really good pictures the other day. It was in response to a query about deciphering instructions on a knitting pattern.
Perhaps someone techie can find it for you, it did look really good.0 -
i did buy it, simply because 99p for a pair of needles, two balls of wool, an instructional DVD, an instructional magazine and several patterns was a bloody good buy :money:

however, i wont be buying any more, because it takes 90 issues to complete the [strike]hideous[/strike] throw which isnt to my taste
, which at £2.99 a pop works out at best part of £270.. money which could be much better invested elsewhere
but for those looking to a cheap intro to knitting, for 99p this seems to be a very respectable kit. (and most local £1 shops now sell big balls of wool for you to be getting on with).
whether it will actually help me master the art of knitting this time remains to be seen, but so far, its seems to be £1 well spentknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
I'm one who usually buy the first but never any more of these magazines. Only if they have something useful in at a good price. My sons Horrible Science ones are the only one we have ever kept buying because he loves them. One day I might be more organised...........

GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
When I was a kid, many moons ago, I could crotchet, blanket type, different colours etc.
I've completely forgotten how I did it, or started off, still have my hooks, I was wondering if anyone knew of an easy to understand web site to start me off again?
Thanks:j0 -
I bought the magazine. Wanted to learn and thought it was good buy. No intention of buying any more. My local charity shop has lots of needles and wool. Balls of wall 10p each and needles 20p a pair. Just trying to think of what to knit now!0

Have to admit that I also bought the magazine - even if I only buy this one its good value - 99p for a magazine, dvd, knitting needles and 2 balls of wool!
Could be useful as my first niece/nephew is due in May and thought would have a go at knitting!Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
I'm a non-knitter and was going to buy the first mag too.
I've also been recommended the website https://www.learn2knit.co.uk which has info on knitting and crochet. Haven't had a look yet though so can't tell you how much use it is I'm afraid!Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...0 -
I brought the mag. And am now the proud owner of half a square of knit!!! This is as far as I've ever got with knitting before.

I won't be buying the other magazines, but as people have said before, 99p for knitting needles, 2 balls of wool, a DVD, and a magazine is a bargain. :money:
I need to learn the purl stitch now.
