Help, what's just gone in my oven?

Options
Something has just tripped the fuse board, the oven was on and I'd just put the microwave on, so I thought it was that until I reset the trip.

Everything else is working fine, the oven lights are on, the fan is going, but there is only marginal heat - possibly from being on before the trip went.

Can anyone assist with what to do next, does it sound like something that can be fixed without a lot of hassle?

Many thanks, murph

Could be the element has blown.

Easy fix if you know how, new element could be around £40.

Yes, thats what I thought and there are online 'how to change' videos i've just found - phew, thought it was going to be more expensive.

Cost will depend on make and type, but we did one for under £40 last year.

Is your oven either a plug in, or wired off a fused spur? If so, then check the fuse before assuming it's the element.

OP said the lights on the oven still work and marginal heat, unlikely to be fuse in this case. Sounds like an element fault to me, but still sound advice in any case.

We recently changed the element after watching a video online, its very easy. We got an unbranded element online for our oven for £16 delivered. We were very pleased with ourselves as OH's first reaction was how were we going to find a few hundred quid for a new oven!!

I did mine the old fashioned way.
Took out the blown element and took it with me to the local spares shop to get a replacement.
Marginally more expensive at £17 plus petrol but all done in one day.
