You were fortunate, hope my vendors aren't reading this expecting similar!!!
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but were the cables not integrated in a way in which the could be extracted/replaced at a later date.
Mine took hours of blood sweat and tears to extract but with zero damage to the room, just the neat drilled holes.0 -
I made the mistake of asking "if they would like the bracket left on the wall or do you want me to make good".
I had to make good the wall, I stuffed all the cabling into the wall and plasterboarded a patch in. Then filled all the holes and finally repainted the wall.
A bit silly really as most people would put the telly exactly where I had it.
I suppose it kept me busy and kept the buyer happy.0 -
I had my old bracket on the wall at my other house. Tried to take it off but brought a tonne of plaster with it. Screwed it back on and said "Look what I have left you! Would prefer it to stay there love".
Tenant took it down, replastered and papered the wall as she didn't like it! Best of both worlds.0 -
All doubt and uncertainty would have been removed if you'd specified upfront, when marketing the house;
"The wall-mounted TV is included in the sale"
OR
"The wall-mounted TV is specifically excluded from the sale, and will be removed with all cabling left in place"
OR
"The wall-mounted TV is specifically excluded from the sale, and will be removed along with all cabling, and walls made good"0 -

I know, with hindsight I would have done a lot differently, but I am where I am now (will know next time - hoping there won't be a next time actually!!!), luckily the buyers came round yesterday and seemed happy with the situation and the fact that they can just put their tv in same place, let's hope it works like that!0 -
You're not a tenant, so have no obligation to return the house to the same state you bought it in. It was sold as seen unless your buyer said "only if you take the cables out of the wall and make good" as a condition of the sale - which I seriously doubt! Leave be and don't worry.
I purchased a property that had cables and wires all over the place and it was clarified that I "take or leave". It appears you have no legal obligation so should leave be and chill!0 -
Good for you to be concerned for the new owners.
I always try to leave a property in the condition I would like to have if I were moving in. Maybe it's old fashioned, but what goes around comes around"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
Ride hard or stay home :iloveyou:0 -
There could be an argument the other way - that since the cables are permanently attached to the wall, they have become part of the fixtures and fittings and should not be removed.0
