BR Bank Accounts

I'm planning on taking the BR leap in a couple of months. When is the best time to open a new Co-op cash minder account? I would like to do it now if I can. I also plan on not paying my debts for the next few months to try and save for the BR fees, is this acceptable and the done thing?

I opened mine 10 weeks before going BR, as long as they are non essential debts that you are stopping paying it should not be a problem.

Yep, not a problem there, I stopped paying mine as soon as I knew that bankruptcy was my only option.

Good question:o I regret having to go BR. Knowing it was my only option made me feel sick to my stomach, however it has been a godsend in a way, it has let me get my life back on track, no more phone calls, letters or threats of home visits. So with hindsight, no I have no regrets at all about going BR.

That's good! My reasons are slightly different, but then everyone has their own set of circumstances obviously. I just want to draw a line under a nasty chapter in my life and move on, BR is not the best way to do it, but I think my only option it seems, I cannot fight it any longer. I worry I will regret it in time, but having made my decision I need to stick by it, stay positive and never look back :-)

Did you list this new account on the accounts section of the SOA form and in the cards section? also did you surrender the cash card to the OR? like to form states.

    Thanks

Personally yes I did, the OR did not ask for my cards as the accounts were defaulted and promptly closed.

Write the account down, keep the balance as close to nil as possible and tell the OR it's your post BR account. Mine released the account on the same day as my interview.
