blackberry confusion

Hi, I have got a blackberry from a friend who has upgraded. I'm now trying to get a sim only deal. I'm confused about wi-fi and data. The tesco one I was looking at is 500 mins, 5000 texts + 500mb of data.
o2 have offered me 600 min unl texts and unlimited wi-fi and 500mb of data for 2/ month more thatn tesco, after value of M&s voucher taken into account.

Do I need wi-fi, or is the internet access included in to 500mb of data? Do I need to pay to access wi-fi as well, or if I'm in a free wi-fi hot spot can I access that without using my data?

Thanks.

Free Wi-Fi means that it's free to connect to hotspots like BT Openzone and The Cloud.

Of course, it depends on your usage - but 500MB of data should be enough anyway.

so I would only need free wi-fi if I was going over 500mb?

That's right, but are you seriously expecting to use over 500MB a month?

I'm with O2 and I did ask them what would happen if I exceeded 500MB. The lady told me it would be unlikely, but if I did - I wouldn't get charged extra or get disconnected. They would simply review the situation if it continually happened.

I have no idea what I'll use! It'll only be email facebook and bbc news really so 500mb seems fine. Think I'll order the tesco one then!

Remember, wherever you can (e.g. at home, friends' houses, etc.) connect to the wi-fi there - just because it's quicker and won't eat into your data allowance.

Why not go for GiffGaff uses 02 network 10 pounds month 250 free minutes a month UNLIMTED INTERNET (really is unlimted) free calls to other giffgaff user plus you can use 0800 for free also UNLIMTED TEXTS

If you get unlimted you never need to worry about wifi spot or having to use at home

If your using a smart phone or IPHONE you can easily go over the 500mb a month the thing that uses most is streaming video and dowloading apps.

On a blackberry it is very very unlikely that youll get near the 500mb of data stated because a blackberry compresses the data down
  • Blackberrys aren't as data hungry as other smartphones. 500mb will be plenty for a Blackberry. Ask if it gives you access to Blackberry services such as push email and Blackberry Messenger (BBM).
