Sorry about the legth of this post but I did say I would copy my email to Skype "customer support" to MSE so here goes.....
HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY DISGRUNTLED & HOPPING MAD TO BOOT What's more I am thoughrly p***d off with your so-called support!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This message is being sent to whichever department it arrives at since your so-called customer support does not seem to have a category for complaints or, in fact for customer support. I trust that it will be forwarded to someone who can deal with it and get back to me.
I puchased my first (and, unless this is resolved to my satisfaction, definitely LAST) skype credit of £10.00 and received the £2.00 bonus credit so started with £12.00 credit balance. There was a charge of £0.112 for each of the 2 texts to set up (running total = £0.224). I then made a call to a UK mobile. After 12 min 45 seconds I was cut off, redialled and continued my call for a further leisurely 50 min 12 sec, after all, your advertised rate to UK mobiles is only 1.4 (1.6 inc VAT), right? By my reckoning, the cost of the calls at your adverised rate should have been £1.08 (66 min 57 sec at £0.016 = £1.022 + 2x connection fee of £0.029 = £0.058). This should give a running total of £1.304. On checking my balance, I find that my credit has gone down to just £2.12, i.e £9.88 has been deducted from my opening credit balance of £12.00. I then checked my call history in an attempt to find an explanation and discovered that I have been charged, not £0.016 per minute but £0.149 per minute.
Needless to say, this is unacceptable. I would like an explanation please.
I have written this email as text document and pasted it into the "Description" box on your customer support form as I am also sending a copy to moneysavingexpert.com to warn other potential suckers.

Call phones and mobiles
Call mobiles or landlines, anywhere in the world, from just 1.4p per minute (1.6p incl. VAT) with Skype Credit or even cheaper with a subscription.
Copied from the Skype website. Did you miss the little word "from", I think that is their getout.
However I could not find any mention of the cost to call mobiles from the Skype credit tariff (I presume that is the one you have).
The nearest I got was the cost from their subscription tariff which was about 12p per minute, which means your 14p was quite possible.
PS I am not a Skype expert, perhaps one will be along later.0 -

Its the exact reason - and the OP has got this all very wrong - the rant above isn't getting you results because I am afraid you're wrong.
Look here, scroll down and look next to mobile network names - http://www.skype.com/intl/en/prices/payg-rates?currency=GBP#cc=GB
Your 1.4p is to landlines - NOT mobiles.
p.s.I am also sending a copy to moneysavingexpert.com to warn other potential suckers.
Did you really call yourself a sucker to skype? Man...you so missed the target here...0 -
*picks myself up off the floor*
haha this is priceless.
Their website clearly states what the rates are to mobiles.
Maybe the op should learn to read before going on a rant
