hi there
sorry if this is in the wrong place.
bought my own house and worked and saved to get it so funds are not very good at the moment.
my problem is that my central heating is only half working and its flippin freezin. had a british gas engineer come and look and they have quoted a ridiculous amount to "flush" the system. the gas man explained that the central heating is a d.i.y job by the previous owner and the lot will need replacing.
at the moment i do not have the cash to sort it. any suggestions as to what i can do till then? its plenty warm enough upstairs as all the rads up there work but i have a huge living/dining room and both rads dont work. i moved in a month ago and have had those electric heaters plugged in which will probably costing me an arm and leg to run. i do not need a huge bill coming in.
any good insulating ideas, however daft appreciated!! sorry this is long but need do something asap. got kids running around.
thanks

get the kids to run faster - get their friends over .... but you will need to check ventilation
Non daft answer search this board for "bleeding radiarors" and "flushing" and "thermo valves" and "really cold house" - there has been several recent posts with good DIY-able solutions ..
