New Mobile - advice please
I need a new PAYG phone - strictly for 'emergency' calls, so don't need anything more than a very basic phone (perhaps with a camera). I prefer a flip phone, and being slightly hard of hearing want one that has decent volume during calls.
I would like to use my existing O2 sim card with my new phone, but with the phones I've seen you have the buy top-up. I'm quite happy to do that but could I buy the top-up on my existing sim in the new phone?
I have a budget of £25 for the phone.
Can anybody give me some suggestions please? TIA

I like the samsung a300 i use as my spare phone still today its flip phone but you will only find on places like ebay it has no camera and they fetch about 12 pounds maxmium.
You can use your exisitng sim in any 02 phone or phone that is unlocked to all networks but if your just using for emergenys your best with another sim card as 02 is expensive and credit expires.0 -
Thanks - eBay is a nono for me as far as mobile phones are concerned - much rather get one from a proper shop. Flip phones seem to be few and far between nowadays.
The credit on my O2 card has never expired - as it really is just used for emergencies, the current balance on my phone has probably been there for 12 months; so is it an 'unlocked' phone I need rather than an O2 PAYG?0 -
Samsung E1150i for £17 odd from Argos with £10 credit or £14.99 from prepaymania (this one is on t-mobile -ought to be unlocked but bet to check first).
Minus quidco/topcashback.
No camera.
Oh and the other IF about prepaymania is warranty - seen people have problems as they can sell products only under warranty in mainland Europe and not covered in UK.0 -
I would go with the samsung E1170 that carphone warehouse have for £4.95 plus top up, just use the topup voucher up then dispose of the sim and use yours.0

If you go to O2 High Street shop, you need to buy a top up on a DIFFERENT number - as you'll get a new sim.
If you order online you don't have to buy a top up. You can call (free I think) 20202 from your handset & existing o2 sim, to talk to them.

Yes that why i mentioned Ebay because Flip phones are hard to find but the phones the other posters mentioned are very good phones.Depends also how important is it to keep your 02 sim you can transfer your phone number over to another network but you will loose any credit on the sim,you can buy either an 02 or unlocked phone and your sim will work in the phone.0 -

Thank you - that's just what I needed to know, as I really want to keep my existing sim - there's quite a bit of credit on it and presumably I can't transfer all my contacts over.
So I'll try one or two of the suggestions here - I like the Samsung 'phone so I'll check that one out.0
