Tuesday 19th July 2011 What small DFW things will you do today????

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

    Hello all!

    Thanks for starting us, lps!
Aw, Josie, sorry to hear things are tough. Im proud of you swallowing your pride to put DD first - and like you say there is no shame in having her father contribute, none at all! Hopefully things will look up soon so you dont need to rely on it as much and can be the independent powerful lady you know you are :)
Perni - yes I know, its all so soon and sudden! I've liked him essentially since Ive been here, but nothing happened until a week or two ago. Its sort of ironic because I had really looked forward to a long bout of singleness, but it feels really right so Im just going with it for the moment :A

Falafel night in with roommates last night was aw-e-some, so will definitely do that again. Today in debt busting:
    • will walk to work if I get out of the house on time
    • breakfast from stores
    • lunch provided by work
    • will actually be productive today to make up for a not very productive monday :)
    • maybe catch up with a friend after work
    • find a 4th person to come on our weekend trip to split the gas another way

Hope everyone has a great tuesday!

    Morning all,

Thanks for starting the thread off lps. Hello to all regulars and new people.

Well, I'm just back from my weekend away to the west coast of scotland. Had a brilliant time, feel like I've been away for a lot longer than 3 days which is always a good thing. Spent an awful lot of money though, £169 on cc to be precise, which is not a good thing. Although not all on my holiday, £50 was a birthday meal out with friends and £54 was on make-up, toiletries and new heads for my toothbrush. In fact my actually holiday budget I only went over by £50 so I suppose there is some comfort in that...ish. :(

Back to it today though, am off work this week but I have lots of studying to do at home. However I am going to try and make use of the extra time in the house to get organised. Need to write a list of things to do for the week but my list for today is...
      Check banking and update spreadsheet
    DONE
Calculate how much left until payday (next Tuesday) DONE £90
Plan finances for next wage packet with new CC spending DONE
Try and make any PAD to CC DONE £18.04
Cancel lovefilm subscription and post back last DVDs
    Washing on and hung up(x3)
List of things to do this week
Meal plan and go shopping with OH (his turn to pay)
    Fill car with fuel
Riding lesson this afternoon (already paid for)
    Work hard with studying
    Eat healthily

That's all I can think of at the moment, probably enough to be going on with for now. Hope everyone has a great day xx

    Morning all,

Thanks for starting us off LPS
Josie – sorry to hear about your woes! I would take the money off the ex as he should pay, when you do not need it, save it for emergencies or a holiday :D
Not too bad – will have to read up what happened, but congrats???

    Hi peeps!

    Today I have/will
    • Will have a NSD – bought lunch and snacks with me so no need to buy anything
    • Do any surveys in my mailbox
    • Look for MS jobs
    • Meals from stores
    • Checked my online banking – no change
    • Resist the urge to check ebay at lunchtime, after work and when I get home to see whether anyone else is looking at Bessie.
    • Charging phone at work
    • Breakfast and a insulated mug of coffee on the train
    • Checked my mobile bill online and saw how many free texts I have left (loads, best get texting)
    • Think positive today
    • Read newspaper online
    • Read the freebie paper on the train
    • Need to check out the freebies and the competition boards
    • Enter comps online
    • Drink plenty of water
    • Take meds and vits to control hormones
    • Update food diary (online and paper copy)
    • Need to stop looking at cars on the web – haven’t sold mine yet, and will not be able to get another one until Bessie is sold and I get paid

    Will see what happens....

    Take care everyone

    Morning folks!
It's back to work for me today. I'm finding it more and more difficult to actually go to work and stay for the whole day, especially if I've had a day in the sewing room. Still, only two more payments on my loan and I'll be £300 a month better off and I could possibly drop another day each fortnight. :D

    My list for today:
    • fed and watered the chickens
    • boxed up 2x half dozen eggs to sell
    • taking fruit to work for snacks
    • need to buy a roll and a loaf of bread so no NSD today
    • take a filling from home for above mentioned roll (cheaper than buying a ready made one!)
    • return library book and possibly order another one today so another day can be an NSD ;)
    • take stitching to do at lunch time
    • dinner from stores
    • stay away from Ebay tonight as I'm getting itchy fingers
I've only got a couple of pounds to lose and I'll have reached my goal of a stone. Why is it the last few pounds are the hardest to shift??
