What a weird thread! I’ve never seen so many new accounts making their first and only post in the same place...

ETA: For context, the thread was resurrected by a spam post which will probably be gone by the time you read this.
  • I am not convinced that one of the two walls they said needed a damp-proof course actually had rising damp. One wall clearly showed evidence of rising damp. The other wall had no visible evidence. The 'surveyor' used a moisture meter and said the wall is damp and has rising damp.

After the work was done, and having problems with the company, I researched. I've no evidence about this as the plaster has been replaced, but you should read Which? magazine report on Kenwood - Google damp-proofing-companies-exposed-in-which-investigation.
Also read an article by heritage-house.org entitled 'The Moisture or Damp meter - Guilty of Fraud!'

I advise you to always have an independent survey for about £300. It possibly could have saved me £1400.

Kenwood left the place filthy, unsecured (exterior door unlocked on an empty flat) and damaged floor trims unnecessarily. They had no respect for customers with their inspector turning up 50 minutes late to discuss the issues. Eventually agreed £400 deduction but wouldn't use again.

Kenwood say the second wall was damp, but, unfortunately, no-one has any photos of it before the work.
