Did anyone deal with Kenwood damp proofing?
Comments

Yes, I know this is a few years later but impotant. 2014 buyers of my flat surveyor think there is some damp - the estate agents call in the free services of KENWOOD DAMP who subsequently find all sorts of problems that can of course be sorted with 2000 quid. My buyers decided to pay for an independant damp company who do not do any of the work - they found nothing at all and informed me Kenwood were discovered to be cowboys who rip you off - check our the Which Consumer (damp) guide, Kenwood and various other big names come out as dodgy - Please check this out before you pay for expensive work with this mob.0

Personally I wouldn't bother, it is expensive for what it is, and as this video shows you don't want to live with what they put in.

Has anyone attempted to complain to the chairman\owner of kenwood?
I have had a number of issues with them recently and am getting no where in trying to get my issue resolved.
My current issue is with work that was carried out that should have been under warranty, but Kenwood refused to honor this. They said that they will redo the work for a fee. We reluctantly agreed to the fee and work was carried out. However they failed to fill in all the holes that was left by their workman and now are saying that the work is NOT guaranteed!
In trying to get this resolved, the calls always seem to get passed to the same person who will almost never get back to you, and when you do finally get hold of him. He is next to useless.
When I asked him who I can complain to he said to send the complain to him!!
I have done a search on the company and the registered director appears to be someone by the name of Gary Petrie who I am about to attempt to contact.
Has anyone had any success in complaining to the upper management/owners at kenwood?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.0 -
Just come to this forum - thanks for all useful info (especially the "outing" of Dave Morris).
I once had a dreadful experience with Kenwood and unfortunately am about to have to deal with them again. In short, I moved into a house where they had completed some damp-proofing. I hadn't worked and a few months after moving in I tried to resolve this. Their approach was, how do i put this politely ... incredibly unprofessional. They didn't answer calls, diverted attention, dragged it all out, etc ... I shan't bore you with the details, but safe to say, they weren't willing to honour the warranty and, after reporting them to a trade association, I gave up.
Three years on, I have to address this as I want to insulate my house. Trembling (!!), I got back in touch and have this time at least received a letter, stating they need £150 to even come to my property. Avney, this sounds similar to your issue. I guess I'll have to pay it, and we'll take it from there, but if you haven't got the jist already, DON'T USE KENWOOD UNLESS YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO OTHER CHOICE.
I have made contact with PropertyCare.org (thanks whoever said that above) and will keep them in the loop.
Thanks and let's see how I get on ...0 -
Good luck with the Kenwood visit wengerft.
I suspect that the surveyor that visits will not commit to anything at the time and eventually they will come back to you with some excuse which will negate the need for them to honor the warranty.
They will of course offer to redo the work for a fee :-)
Let us know how you get on.0 -
I can also recommend looking at Peter Ward's youtube channel. Lots of case studies showing shoddy damp & timber company practice.0

Please be aware of using this Company. I have had a terrible ordeal with them. Work not completed on time and property left in a poor condition. I would not recommend them. They may be the biggest but that does not make them the best. If you do choose to use them please get everything in writing beforehand. I would not wish my own experience on my worst enemy.0

I am sure if things go right they are fine, but if something goes wrong they are terrible. I have had no written acknowledgement of my complaints. They did not turn up when they said they would, they don't return phone calls or emails. What they don't seem to realise is that if they dealt with it quickly then people would not get as irritated with them. They seem to hope that if they ignore it, then it will go away. I would never use them again or recommend them to anyone.0

This company came and fitted their damp gear in our flat. When bringing their tools in and out they managed to rip our bike rack off the wall leaving a gaping hole. When I rang and spoke to the man there he denied it was his men and was SO rude!!! He insisted it wasn't them, even thought it so obviously was! It was all intact before they arrived! He refused to send anyone to fix it and said he'd post a cheque for £50, which obviously never arrived! I also haven't seen a £170 necklace since these idiots came to our house, I know where I left it (which was in a corner where they were working) and it's disappeared. Do not ever let these lying, theiving men into your home.0

I seem to be the only person who has had a positive experience with Kenwood. My surveyor founds damp in the house we are buying and I got several companies around. Kenwood were the only company who could remove the radiators as well so I choose them. All went to plan and they re plastered the walls which meant I had to paint them with about a hundred coats. Still the vendor paid for the damp proofing so all good.
