You'd better bring a camera; Edinburgh's a most dramatic city - there's not many European cities that have what's basically a cliff (Arthur's Seat) in the city centre!

I went up to Scotland for an interview last year and stopped at http://www.argyllguesthouseglasgow.co.uk/
Yes its Glasgow but it is a short bus ride out of the city centre. The room was lovely, the shower was powerful and the breakfast was great. Plenty of choice and all perfect. The only fault I could make with the whole guest house is that the tomoto ketcup was in an old fashioned glass bottle which was difficult to get out.
