I finally gave up with sky :j
a few months ago we got new ariel which feeds our TV which is HD with inbuilt freeview and results are excellent :j
last week got ourselves a Humax Foxsat PVR 500 .... once home I simply plugged in the twin cables from the sky dish and the HDMI lead into the back of the TV, plugged in the mains and was away very quickly :j
the PVR is excellent and I'm very happy with it so far, things are done a little differently than the Sky+ box but does everything and more ! It records two programmes at once while you watch a 'live' programme, got the best of both worlds here ........ and no longer paying £50 + a month to get a load of stuff we never used :j
anyone thinking of getting a PVR I really can recommend this bit of kit !0 -
Any of the Humax Freeview PVR's will do the job. If you want the HD version it will cost you quite a lot more though. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

A Foxsat-HD-PVR for Freesat comes to around £212 + carr + VAT.
Alternatively, if you can put up with a single tuner, try the Technisat HDFS Freesat at around £122 + carr + VAT. You may find cheaper but look at the warranty and technical support. Some "stack em high & sell em cheap" emporiums may save you a couple of quid but bite you in the Rs if things go wrong.0 -

Not Freeview are they?
OP although Humax may have the majority of Freesat PVR market there are plenty of other good Freeview PVR brands. Take a look at DigitalStream and possibly buy from JL for the extra free warranty, plus plenty of support on the AVforums.0
