Mice in my Garden

Spotted a furry friend in the garden on a couple of occasions.

Both my garden and my surrounding neighbours are all well kept so really my question is whether or not this is a problem? We all just have shrubs and flowers, no veg.

I dont have any children either so does anyone know its normal/safe to let little mice share your back garden or should I try to deter them?

I was sitting in my back garden and a little mouse ran across my path... It was just a little thing and I am not going to do anything about it as, unfortunately, the next door neighbour's cat will most likely nail it soon... My main worry is in case they come into the house... but I don't think they do... I will wait and see what others say....

Whereas, last year, I spotted a larger furry thing near my chickens (I had 6 at the time) and, fortunately, one of my friends had a large trap and within 2 days, it was caught....

    Cheers

There's always wildlife in gardens :) Mice are but one part of that. As long as they aren't causing a problem there shouldn't be a problem. You might want to check your loft for droppings and lay traps if you find any.
Their not as bad as rats, lets put it that way.

Calm down dear......it's only a mouse.

I would however block off any air bricks to the house, along with wire mesh (fine gauge) over the end of the drainpipes to minimise the chance of them getting in to your roof over winter.

I have one living under my shed which is very close to the house and I'm not happy. I had a moouse in my house a couple of years ago and they are very difficult to actually get rid of. If I were you I would discourage it if you can. I'm relying on my dog to terrorise the blighter under the shed into moving away. These are not field mice, these are nuisance house mice and having mice in the house is disgusting...

I would borrow a cat for a while. If you see it leaping across the lawn in 3 directions at once, you know it's on the case.

mice won't cause you any bother in the garden ...the only problem we had was the cat bringing them in,,otherwise they keep themselves to themselves... :)

but what if one is helping himself to the cheese in your fridge ?
More so, if he has some Tuc's and chutney under his arm.

As an aside, please don't block off the airbricks to your house - the vents are there for a reason
