Hi folks,
Thanks to all who helped me on my other thread. As I am going to get an electrician around to have a look at that I thought I might run this past you to see what you think.
A number of years ago I got a tv techy to add an amplifier to improve my tv signal. The amplifier is in the loft and as I live in a bungalow with rooms in roof space he wired the tv apmlifier directly into the back of one of the room sockets. He did give me a choice but as I thought it would use up a plug space I let him wire it directly into back of socket.
So far so good no problems, but since I am getting an electrician around do you think I need to get him to check this out?
thanks

yes.
It's extremely bad practice to wire appliances into the back of a socket - they must be protected by a suitable fuse in the plug or in a fused connection unit.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
TV amplifier probable rated at 3A
Wired direct it will keep going till your 32A fuse blows !
Very bad and very dangerous practice !You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
Hope he used 2.5mm cable and put a switched fused outlet in the loft to connect the amplifier to!!0
