Trying to transfer two balances, sufficient income

I have two balances totalling £12k, I have sufficient income to pay these visa cards, however, due to the fact that my salary is not sufficient I cannot transfer onto 0% cards...

I receive additional money from my ex and Family tax credit which enhance my income greatly.. I was just overspending hence cards.

any advice pls?

If you can't get new cards then you will probably be stuck with the existing ones for a while.

What are the balances, limits and APRs on the 2 cards?

How much can you afford to repay a month in total?

Balances on each card are both around £6k
I can pay upto £350 per month that's what I pay now, I just want to change to 0% so I'm paying the debt down instead of interest rate charges.

    Limits are 6800 and 5900

Are you over your limit on the £5900 limit one then? if so first thing to do is to sort that out. If you don't have the spare money to bring it back under the limit then look at putting some of your everyday spending on the other card, then use the saved money from your bank account to pay the overlimit card.

What are the APRs on each of the cards?

How much do you earn and do you have any other debts? do you have any other open unused credit card accounts (ones that you have paid off but never officially closed)?>

No, I am not over the limit, I have just checked. both balances are below my credit limit.
    Apr's are
    29.9%
    16.94%

I think my ex has other cards in 'our' name but I am not oblidged to pay these, we own rented properties and he is using those for that.

I don't have any other debt.
i earn £14k as I work part time, and pay child care, which is why I am entiled to Family Tax Credits,
so my income is actually around £30,000

Whether or not you feel you need to pay the joint debts if they are on your credit file then they will still affect your ability to get new credit cards. And if you are financially associated on your credit files then anything negtaive in his name will affect you.

It sounds like you have little chance of getting new cards at the moment. Have a look at the snowball calculator to work out how long it will take you to clear the cards at the current rate of repayments (make sure anything above the minimum goes to the most expensive card) and then maybe have a look at your budget to see if you can increase repayments anyhow.

I have checked with him and there aren't any that are not being paid, this is not an issue for him as he is a very high earner and accountant.

Thank you for this advice I will look at all the information you have provided and I'm glad I'm on the right tracks... Feels Good

Thank You again, very much appreciated

    Oli :)
