Newbie at ebay - can't believe how stupid I am, buyer must think I'm potty!

Thank you all for your replies and advice.

When I got back home last night and checked ebay, I fully intended to cancel the item and reinsert it as a bin but then found that someone else had placed a bid.

So, I have decided to let the auction run and have advised the person concerned that I am doing this. I have apologised for my mixup and do really feel awkward in letting them down but I have thought to myself, the whole point of doing this is to sell items to make some much needed cash so sometimes your head has to take over. Sorry if that sounds a bit harsh.

Anyway, thanks to you all for providing me with the advice so hopefully I don't make the same mistake again. I don't like upset at all.

    The person didn't reply btw.

Thanks again, this forum is a life saver. :)

If you haven't already I would put the person who wanted the BIN on your block list. You will have annoyed the already so they may take a little revenge if they bid and win with your feedback/stars..best to be safe.

    Floralaura,

How do you block someone? I can't check the link you put on as I can't access ebay through this internet.

    Thanks

If on ebay you go to the 'help' tab on the right top hand side of the page and type in 'block bidder' it will bring up the page with a link to take you to the right page. You then just add the ID of the person you want to block..hth

cancel the bids on current auction, end it then send a paypal invoice for the goods to the person who made the offer

And hope there is not a dispute with the buyer, and you dont fall out with them, as they could report you for off ebay sales/fee avoidance.

Well, my potential buyer has replied and basically said they want to collect it today and I'm to cancel the auction in just one sentence.

Hmm, now I'm starting to feel like I definitely priced it up too low!

Well, I guess I'll learn the hard way.

Are they paying by paypal, then collecting?
If so, you have no proof of delivery/tracking, so they could get their money back and you would not have a leg to stand on.
