Scheming-gypsy - how does that work, I thought when the invoice is sent out, it is for the amount that the auction/bin was set at?

    .

when the auction finishes you can send the invoice manually and i'm pretty sure there's an option to add discounts and change the postage option.

The Ebay approved way ('cos they get more fees) is to end the auction early, which you can only do if you don't have any bids (watchers don't count). Then put up a new BIN item with the agreed price and email the item number to the buyer so they can find it. Doesn't have to be anything fancy, you don't need a picture or anything. I usually title the item "BIN for name of the buyer" and put in the text not to bid unless you are the named buyer.

The non approved method would be to end the auction early then invoice the buyer direct through Paypal for 'goods', so no further Ebay fees to pay.

Doing it that way though if the item isn't as described the buyer has no come back, so whilst in benefits the seller it doesn't benefit the buyer, especially if the seller was loose with the truth in the original auction!
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

Well, my potential buyer has replied and basically said they want to collect it today and I'm to cancel the auction in just one sentence.

Hmm, now I'm starting to feel like I definitely priced it up too low!

Well, I guess I'll learn the hard way.

If you don't want to sell at the cheaper price, there's no law to say that you have to go through with things just because you said that price, just explain to the buyer that you got confused when you told them the price..
Auctions with watchers are normally best left to run.

I must admit, I can't see the point of putting it on ebay as an auction, if you sell if to the first bidder.

I, as with most others, bid in the last thirty seconds, and usually double or quadruple the price from a minute from ending.

This is right...you are under no obligation to sell to this person. You made an error, you've told them this, dont worry about it! they are just trying it on. I know it can seem a bit scary checking your messages if you think you've upset someone but at the end of the day you are in the right to say 'sorry, ive decided to let the auction run.' Good luck with your item!

If they sent me a message saying it was being picked up by them today and you were to cancel the auction then I would tell them where to go!

I actually tried to do this a few weeks ago, you can create a discount on the postage but not on the actual sale prices, unfortunatly the total postage wasn't enough to cover the discount i wanted to create, so ended up creating a buy it now in order to complete the deal.

You can also cancel auctions even if they have bids, not sure if there is a 12/ 24 hour time limit, ive also had to do this in the past when the small item got misplaced.

You also do not have to sell to this person if you have changed your mind.

Also add them to your blocked bidders list if you decide not to sell to them
