Yes, I've tried that a couple of times but still doesn't let me connect through AOL. Not sure if there is another step after that?
The timeout seems to have stopped for some reason. I'm sometimes managing to get to the bit where I give my ISP details but it's not liking what I'm entering.
Can anyone tell me if the AOL password changes to 6 asterisks even if the password is longer? My Dad is sure his password is an 8 letter word but there are only 6 asterisks on the AOL login.
And I am doing all this with the router connected. I just go via the old modem to connect to here to find out what you are all telling me!OD Girls On TourBarcelona 2008 - Dublin 20090 -
Hello
I've just been through the pain of this with my mums router again (i threw out all the instruction books...:o ) having switched from pipex to orange so I share your pain ;o)
I sorted mine out by updating the firmware (which supports the latest DSL modulation...I won't pretend to know what that means!) and hard resetting the router.
As mentioned previously by another member, try hard resetting the router (I'd guess it'll tell you how in the manual, there will be a reset switch somewhere and the lights on the router will flash).
Re: the password, I'm not familiar with Dlink stuff it might well enter only 6 asterisks...it does kinda ring a bell with me. Aternatively if your password has 2 numbers in it and you're typing them in on the number pad then check that your num lock is on.
It might be worth checking the firmware version of the router...
PS, apologies if this is stating the obvious but you've got microfilters on all your phone extensions? (If you've been using ADSL from the house previously then ignore this part)0
