Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 18th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good Morning:T:T:T
NPM - hugs to you. All mums worth their salt blame themselves when stuff happens to their children. Maybe you do have some traits but then I reckon I do too and some of those traits are what made you a damn good nurse !! However your ability to love and your compassion outshine anything else and you should focus on those x

Well Im up early again and enjoying a quiet cup of tea. Im not sure of my plans but I do need to get some eggs for DD birthday cake.

Will probably post later to catch up.
Have a good day xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Morning Molly and all who follow.
Very grey and windy here at the moment and rain is forecast:(
Just going to have a cuppa and then get ready for work.
Dinner yesterday was a great success. The beef was cooked just perfectly. I slightly overdid the Yorkshire but it was fine, Just a bit dark on top.
Our meal today will be leftovers made into a sauce. We'll have it with rice & salad leaves.
Must put the vacuum around - I'm starting to get CHAOS (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome)
NPM - You know the theory that everyone is on the spectrum somewhere as it is a continuum. Your training as a nurse will have encouraged you to be highly organised. My sister (a nurse) is hyper organised and runs an ordered (and very happy) home. I am sorry Noah had a meltdown, but it is very difficult for him to cope with change as I know only too well from my DGS. You are doing a great job preparing him for changes as much as possible. Lots of hugs to you.

Wishing you all a Happy Monday. Hugs to all in need or who want them.
    Cheers, Silver x

    Morning all
Hubby's at the station with his packup, breakfast eaten, fish fed, tonight's tea (turkey & mushroom pie) is in the fridge, so an easy time tonight. I got a lot done yesterday, I made the pie whilst I cooked dinner, I made dozens of Thumbly Jumbly biscuits, hubby's taken some to work for his cleaning team & I'm taking some to work for my colleagues, I did the ironing & some paid for sewing & prepped some garden veg & froze them..
Off to work soon, one more week before we break up, I shall have to go in to do a few hours during the holidays but it's a lot quieter without the students there.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Good Morning Mollie, Silver and all to follow later.
    Wet here at the moment.
    ((Hugs)) to NPM Chin up!
WEll, the cousins from OZ arrive very early tomorrow - would like to say everything's perfect now - not true however! Still, not too much left to do!
Another incredibly busy w/e and am feeling exhausted already! Noon meeting today with the builders and the architect at church to agree work is done (or not - I have a list!!)
Need to catch up on all your doings. Hope you have a great Monday (do those two words actually go together???) Anyhow, must go and make up the spare room bed and tick another job off the list..and collect two matchsticks for my eyes! Take care, all.
( Morning Hester - we were typing together. Hope this week doesn't drag for you.)

Morning all hugs to those that need them, Back to work today after 2 and a half weeks, dreading what I am going in to but hey-ho will just take it as it comes no point in getting stressed before I get there. I havent even checked my emails since I came off which is a first!!! DGS stayed last night, as his mummy is a nurse and starts at 7 this morning, he is just 2and a half , decided to take his nappy off overnight and has wet his bed, etc - just changed the sheets yesterday, so that will be another load of washing to go on before I take him to his Childminder and head to work. Fish in a cheese sauce and potato wedges for tea, with garden peas. Still to make my sandwich etc for lunch as not going to buy anything - had got into the habit of popping out for a sandwich but cant afford it so if I dont take one with me I will starve!
Must move hope you all have a good day and the sun shines!

    Morning everyone,

We have had a major breakthrough here this morning, DS and DD1 have made their own packed lunches and the kitchen was not a bomb site afterwards!:D

WM has finished and I am about to peg the washing out even though it is drizzling, the forecast is much better for later and I am sure that the washing will be dry by the time I get hame from work.

NPM You are a wonderful mother and it is obvious from your postings how much you love your son. We all blame ourselves when things are not as we wish. Noah could not wish for a better mother.

Have a concert to go to at the junior school tonight, my last one after 8 years of having children there, and then possibly a fashion show. I have bought a ticket as it is to raise money for DD1's scout troup but fashion is not really my thing.

Tea tonight is yet more of the huge vat of chilli.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    :DMorning all,

Looks a bit grey here this morning, its been such a wet summer (again) have loads of washing to do, but dd has the Dr at 9 and I need to go with her, so I will wait till I get back before putting a load in, she also has the dentist this afternoon, and the nurse tomorrow so a busy few days.

Dinner tonight is roast pork belly with roasties and three veg, its a good day for it, as it looks miserable out there, OH and I went scrumping again yesterday so I have a load of plums to deal with later on, will make some chutney and stew some for the freezer.

Need to hoover through and have a general tidy, mop floors etc.

NPM, you must not feel like that, you are a great mum, and I know that Noah loves you, and you him, you two bring each other great joy, yesterday was not such a good day, but today might be a great one, big hugs xx

Have good days all hugs where needed xx

    Morning everyone

Grey overcast and chilly here this morning. Been away since Friday morning haven't felt great but better than on Thursday, will be calling to Pharmacy to get some meds on my way into work this morning, if I don't feel any better by Weds/Thurs I'll go to the Drs. Weekend away was lovely but weather was not good so had to dodge the rain/wind etc. Boys had a good time with grandparents and DS1 passed his karting lessons and test he did on Saturday.

We're not away this weekend so will be able to have an easier week and of course the children finish for hols on Friday, then they are staying with grandparents for the days I work in the holidays. I'm not on holidays until the last 2 weeks of the holidays.

Dinner tonight is pie, pots and veg for DH, DS1 and DS2, I'll be having fish/chicken, pots and veg.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning All,

    NPM big (((hugs))) hun

Also wet and wintry here. Hope it picks up this week, mum and dad are on holiday in Whitby and my DS3 goes off to Alton Towers on Thursday.
Thank goodness its his last week before the summer holidays, its such hard work getting him up and out to in his words "watch videos".
DH and I will work from home this morning and then this afternoon DS1 and DH are due to play golf. Definitely need the waterproofs. Out for a meal tonight a belated birthday treat for DH so shouldn't cost much. Will do pizza for those not coming with us.
My eldest boy and his Fiance go off travelling on Thursday and are not due back until early September so things should return to normal ish and our budgeting will get back on track. I wont be surprised if they come back earlier though. possibly having run out of money:p

Anyway hope you have a good Monday despite the rain J x
