I know...but this property is actually owned by the HA, not a private landlord and the HA seem completely happy to allow this situation to continue. Terrible for those who live nearby...
Are you the only one complaining? If you are you need to encourage other neighbours to put in complaints to the HA and preferably the EHOs as well for noise, and the police if it's anything else that is anti-social.

If you are the only one complaining then you are seen as a crackpot who is super sensitive.

I used to know the lady who lived in the other flat in the house next door. She had to move out and rent privately as the tenant, before he was imprisoned, was harrassing her verbally each time he saw her. They HA did nothing to protect or help her and I felt terribly sorry for the poor girl - a single woman, early 20s. She was a tenant of the same HA but because she was law abiding the HA didn't want to know. Should have seen the warning signs... She moved out just a few months ago but luckily she was only renting.
Did the lady go to the police and make a formal complaint about his threatening and harassing behaviour?

Landlords cannot just kick tenants out on the say so of their neighbours.

Neighbours who cause trouble like that probably are well versed on how to get around the law to cause as many problems as possible so if the landlord kicks them out, the landlord will be sued.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

I'm not the only one complaining about them. Four different households in total have been in contact with the HA. We all clubbed together earlier this year and had a meeting with the HA at their regional office. That is when we were told of the situation the tenant was in (ie in prison and that the HA had agreed he choose anyone he likes to look after this flat whilst inside (12 years!)).

MP was involved last year but declined to take it further after the tenant started his sentence - for 'legal reasons'.

We all think that there must be more to this situation than the HA are letting on. Witness protection was a suggestion put forward by a neighbour recently. Out of the four household, one has moved, another has put their house on the market and the other(aside from myself) has decided not to pursue as the HA accused them of wasting their time and were rather rude to them (She's an elderly lady and just doesn't want the trouble).
No other neighbours are close enough to be affected by the noise and late night comings and goings of drug dealing.

Marny, I would suggest you be very carefull with your neighbours. if they are drug dealers and one of them has already been sent down for 12 years then we are not talking small time. Like some bunch of kids doing a bit of vandalism outside your door (Gary Newlove anyone ?)

Well, the neighbours who have just put their house on the market hired a solicitor and because of that our MP said she could no longer be involved.

Maybe we should contact our MP once more.

I have considered moving - many, many times but apart from these awful neighbours the area is great - East Dulwich, SE London.

I will under no circumstances get involved with them or take matters into my own hands. I've seen how they threaten some of their visitors - with razor blades. No nice to witness so I would never dream of confronting them. The poor girl who had to move began to try to readson with them and that's hen the verbal abuse started.

EH have a long list to complaints about the people living at the property but because so many different people 'use' the address they can't keep tabs on who actually lives there. It seems that arounf 30 people usethe address, some actually seem to reside there but no one lives there on a permament basis. This 'arrangement' is fine with the HA who have said that as long as the rent gets paid it's OK as the imprisoned tenant has agreed that any number of people can use his flat. Apparantly he gave the HA a long list of names and as long as no one not on the list is using the flat then it's OK!

Marny, I'm not talking about confronting them, I'm on about your snitching, council/HA employees are not know for their discretion.

Hope they declare the problems to their eventual buyers

Definitely contact your MP and local elected councillor. Make sure all correspondence is copied to MP, Councillor, Police, EH & HA. Also worth finding out who the Housing Officer is for this property and contact them directly if possible.
