Hmm, do you live in Salford?

I was thinking Warrington? If so, I can see why the OP finds it depressing! :)

Is it really just your living arranngements getting you down, or is there something else?

I think if you were to cultivate a shared passion in something, you wouldn't mind living where you do as much as your time would be taken up.

Can't you move to a suburb of the city you live and work in? Find somewhere that has something that appeals to you nearby eg a nice pub with good meals/a nearby woods for country walks/a big park etc.

I always say look for the positives in all situations. Be thankful you are not me still having to live with family and it is totally driving me and my partner crazy. Would love to have our own place no matter how dull the area was.

If you lived in the other city you'd have another set of problems. Too busy and noisy? Full of drunken revellers at 4am? Can't park anywhere, traffic jams ....

Much better to have some negative points but have money to get away or have more trips away.

Create an amazing lifestyle where you head off and do exciting things at the weekend, learn to waterski or buy jet-skis. Head off to luxury spas together, rent a cottage in the countryside as well as your city place haha.

    So where are you? Hartlepool?

You should think yourself lucky. Where I live I am an hour drive away from any kind of life be it cinema, night life (anything that is half decent), all the shops are closing down and we have more coffee shops in our town than anything else. Literally the only thing to do in the evening is head down to wetherspoons or go for walks and now I am lucky where this is concerned because I happen to live in one of the most beautiful countrysides in England.

After all said, I would much rather live where I do than slap bang in the middle of everything.

P.s. I was in warrington this weekend to pick something up for my car and seemed a lovely place, me and DP both commented on how nice it was and that we would happily live there.

I don't think either Warrington or Hartlepool are cities.

I am intrigued to know what the two cities are though, perhaps the OP hasn't told us because she doesn't want to offend the other residents of Dullsville.
