:hello:
Ok, I know in some respects this question is like asking how long is a piece of string, as everyone has different lifestyles I guess, but I would like to get an idea of what others spend. I have released I spend the majority of my weekly budget on food. I love cooking and eating and therefore my purse and waistline pay the price! I probably spend on average about £40 a week, so roughly £160 a month. At times it has been more, like if I shop organic. That's not including the odd take-away or purchased lunch. Most of my shopping is at Tesco.
Most of my friends and family live with others or have kids, so I've no idea what other singletons would spend on a average weekly shop. I usually buy a mixture of fruit, veg, meat and fish etc, maybe some ingredient for cooking, herbs and what not, the odd ready meal and very rarely buy alcohol:beer: I will often raid the reduced to clear section and usally end up buying stuff I wouldn't normally eat, but do cos its reduced!

I used to spend around £20 when I lived on my own, now I'm living with oh but shopping for 1 still I spend around £15 a week. I eat pretty basically and am very strict with my food, so that makes it easy. If I want a treat then its from the whoopsies!!
if you can stretch to £40 why not treat yourself!! ( I certainly would!!)

I probably average about £30 a week including food for lunches at work most days and feeding my bf on weekends. I too enjoy cooking and like to eat well - I buy a variety of fruit and veg, meat (no fish because I'm fussy), nice bread and some treats (chocolate is a major weakness!).
My closest supermarket is Sainsbury's and I do my main shop there but also pop into a Morrison's near my work to check out the offers and pick up bits that are cheaper there than at Sainsbury's. I also buy things that are reduced for quick sale etc but only if it's something I like and would buy/eat regularly.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
i prob spend about 60.00 (at least) but i know i am not really that MS.
i tend to buy what i like. even if it is a piece of steak for 6.00 a time.credit card bill. £0.00

I usually do just buy what I like. Problem is, I really need to sort my finances out and since food shopping is where a lot of my money go's, I think I am going to have to consider what I buy from now on. Plus I very rarely make my own lunches, so I end up paying on top of the £40 per week. I'm hoping not to spend more than about £35 a week all in, so from what others have said it is probably do able.

Yeah it's definitely do-able. If you have a look on the old school board there are lots of ways to stretch the contents of a cupboard.
I used to spend a lot on work lunches and I think stopping pub lunches has probably been my biggest saving. I'm not a big sandwich fan and I do like to have a proper meal at lunch time so I often cook extra portions when I do evening meals so that leftovers can be used for lunch.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
hiya, mine is around 50 pounds i do a main shop with list and then about 10 pounds a week on top ups, tbh this is totally unecessary and as of next month i am sticking to a 50 pound a month budget, which i know is doable if i shop wisely, bogof, discounts, coupons etc, i take lunch to work, 25% of my shopping is impulse buying, which will come to a stop!Lose 28lb 3/28lb

For me, it varies from £5 to £60, depending what I buy as I bulk buy. On weeks where I buy £5 of stuff, its milk, bread, f&v and yoghurt. F&V and bread tends to be in the reduced.
The times I spend £60 are when I bulk buy because of good offers - such as booze, washing liquid, cereals and cans of Coke Zero.
Overall - £25-30 a week0 -
For myself, two cats and a dog I spend no more than £35 on an expensive week, £30 on a good one by finding whoopsies, buying from the market stalls near close of business, etc etc. Last week I spend just under £60 which with what I already have in will last a month. I cook everything from scratch and supplement the pets food with trimmings from fish/meat, and veg peelings etc.0

I do a shop monthly online, I normally Spend £100 one month taking advantage of all the buy X get X deals to stock up the freezer and shelves, then around £40 the next month, just buying what I need to use up the last of the previous shop. I also save delivery costs this way as a £100 spend with Sainsbury's is free, rather then a delivery cost every 1/2 weeks.
Seems to work well for me and averaged over 8 weeks it costs around £17.50 a week.0
