    i thought they were made from wood as well but everyone tells me it was plastic back then but a better plastic than they use today.

    can anyone confirm if they were indeed wooden?

    now I think about it I'm pretty sure that mine was made of wood too, but my dd's was plastic

    No it was plastic nice strong plastic brightly coloured, with a long cord. My kids were fine.

    Mine was a wood base, with plastic dial, reciever and eyes.
    Here I go again on my own....

    My children oldest 29 did have an all plastic one but I have just looked it up on google and the old ones had a wooden base.

    lol I knew there was wood on it somewhere, I phoned my mum earlier to ask if she could remember and she thought they were all wood too because I had a habit of chewing on mine and she said I got a splinter in my lip when I was 2 :eek: lol

    Mine was also wood and Im 33 :)

    DD now 22 had one, DS now 21 played with it too, all kids at local coffee run arounds had one, local playschool had shed loads......never heard of any of them getting into trouble with em......shame they have made them safe and now kids getting bashed on head.......spose thats progress lol
    whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine
