Help-What HDD/DVD Recorder?

Sorry if this has been posted before - I had a quick look, but need some advice asap please.

Have been looking for a DVD Recorder. We have Sky, but not Sky plus (didn't want to fork out for the full package every month, installation and box, otherwise we would have gone for that). So, would like a DVD Recorder with a Hard Disk Drive (min 80gb) so that we can Pause live TV, would like to be able to record sky programmes but be able to watch a different channel, so do we need a DVD Recorder with a twin tuner too?

If anyone has any advice I'd be really grateful, or if someone has one that they can recommend?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know the answer to your other questions, but I don't think there is anyway you can pause live TV unless you actually pay for Sky Plus!

You need a PVR - Personal Video Recorder - record onto a hard disk
    article here:
    http://www.radioandtelly.co.uk/pvr.html
prices from £80 - most will pause / rewind live television

Go on - break free from Sky's expensive monthly subs - be a Money-saver!

If you go down the PVR route, make sure you get one with 2 freeview receivers so that you can record 1 program and watch another. Also this will enable you to record 2 programs when you're away.

I've been thinking about the same thing but whilst I would record on our main tv I would like to have the option to watch the programme on another tv. I also have a camcorder and wanted something to edit the resultant data.
I have opted for the following Liteon HD-A760GX:

Want one that records onto a DVD RW disc too.

    Have been looking at

Sony 160GB RDRHXD860S HDD HDMI DVD Recorder

Anyone had an experience of this one? Some of the Amazon reviews seem quite mixed, and at £300 its quite expensive too...

I have just got the next one up and I am really pleased with it, it's got 250gb HDD....I replaced a none digiatal 80gb model because it filled up too quickly and we couldn't record freeview without leaving tv on ( we have a TV with Freeview built in)

Sorry if I sound numb but can you get a PVR with a DVD built in? We need a new DVD player/recorder but also a new freeview box. I was looking at PVRs but wondered if we could combine the two?

The extra cost may deter you!
Have a look here http://www.radioandtelly.co.uk/pvr.html the Pansonic or Pioneer are both over £300
