I had to sign on yesterday and was supposed to see my advisor for an hour but instead I was sent to see some dopey woman who said that she only had 10 minutes because she was due to see someone else - she showed literally no interest in what I had done to look for work and instead spent time typing on her computer although I did notice that she typed that she had 10 minutes to spare and therefore saw me. She asked if I could return in a month to see yet another advisor because my usual one was fully booked - she did say they were short of staff would be advertising on Monday. Not keen on being a civil servant if truth be known but I will apply because I would be able to walk to work even if I moved - it would take me about 15-30 mins to walk there from my new abode. (see even though the house is not mine yet I am talking as though it is).

It is bitterly cold again today and I won't be going out - the carpark is like an ice rink in any case. So I shall be staying in the warm. It is so cold in the kitchen that I have had to put an old rug on the floor to stand on when I am washing up because the cold just goes through my feet and I start to go numb:( At least when I am in bed I am warm with a feather duvet, a heavier 13.5 tog duvet on top of that, a quick blast of the electric blanket, bed socks, pyjama bottoms (heavy cotton) plus a fleecy dressing gown that I wrap myself in - I am as warm as toast even though the temperature in the room itself must be at freezing point:eek:

All the more I am thinking about moving and about paint colours - I do know that the wallpaper in the kitchen needs to be removed but then I can paint the walls a lovely light shade because the kitchen gets the sun in the afternoon. I am thinking about stuff that I have never thought about before...it is all rather exciting.

I need to sell a load of DVDs and 16 copies of the same CD, I also need to try and sell this wedding stuff and may have found a posh dress shop that sells one-offs and samples so I can ask if they would be interested in buying them off me (the dresses are new and still have tags).

It sounds mad but I am fretting about my iron bedstead as it will have to be dismantled to be moved...but I know it will look lovely in my new bedroom. Must admit that I must question why I bought it because if I am not careful my head can slip between the rails but it reminded me of the film Bedknobs & Broomsticks and I always vowed that I would have a similar bed.

Keeping all my fingers toes and eyes crossed - an offer has been made on the house and now we wait.

Mum & Dad met two of the executors yesterday as they were being hurried along on their viewing by the woman from the agents (I do not like this woman either as she hurries you along to get you in and out in a matter of minutes). My parents discovered that the appliances in the kitchen are only 4 months old so the offer includes them and subject to survey. The agent got quite sniffy when my parents asked for an electrical survey which is what is supposed to be provided by the vendor - in the end Mum said that she knew her own electrician who would do that part of the survey. The agents tried desperately hard to get more money out of my parents but Mum pointed out that the offer had only just been made and hadn't been accepted yet so a higher amount was of little consequence at the moment. The agents are not very good at marketing the house because Mum has found out that no-one has viewed the house other me and them since the house went onto the market..it says a lot.

Nipped to the village to go to the bank this morning, picked up a few bits in the Co-op and then ventured into a couple of charity shops, one hadn't got anything but the other was having a book sale buy one get one free - I came out with a hardback for £2.95 and a paperback free although it was marked as being £1.95. Bargains all round but I must stop buying books. I figure that I am going to have time on my hands so won't be out spending money once I am in the house so I have to have something to read. Also picked up a couple of magazines - The Lady is my Valentines Day treat and Amateur gardening which had a free packet of seeds on the front which were worth more than the cost of the mag itself.

Whoo hoo - I am now the proud owner of a two bedroom house that is warm has a garden front and back. Negotiations are taking place over the white goods, the sideboard and a single bed in the back bedroom. All other furniture can go.

This means that my freezer is up for sale. Now I need to get my Argos vouchers & some B&Q vouchers from Consumerpulse as they will pay for a freeview box and any paint etc.

Am off to college this afternoon for a colour test and they will look at my hair which was shaved at the back and needs to grow out, a cut and colour could cost me about £32 at most.

Now I need to start packing up my stuff..I have sooo many books and so little space but I cannot be parted from my books - I tried to get rid of some of my Michael Connolly books before but couldn't as I am trying to keep ones that I will read more than once - maybe it is time to have a cull though as I cannot take everything. Now I need to start collecting boxes and start packing stuff away. I have too much glassware in the form of collectibles (these will come with me) the set of Victorian pressed glass may have to be auctioned off (this is a lemonade set). I have kept the piece of silk that belonged to late MIL, I had considered sending it to the auction house but I may frame it when funds allow and hang it in my bedroom.

I will have a freezer for sale along with an old fashioned free standing coat rack which served (and still does) as a wardrobe. I do have a wooden wardrobe which is not for sale. So far my mahogany chest is not for sale either. The washing machine will have to stay because I am not wrestling it out of the cupboard because it was a tight squeeze anyway.

So much to do now e.g. notify folks that need notifying although this can wait until the ink is dry on the contract.

It is all scary but exciting stuff.
