Keep positive, im 17 and i managed to get my insurance for £2300 Fully comp with elephant/admiral - Yes its a lot of money but its cheap compared to the 4k+ i was getting to start with.

You just need to play with the comparison sites. Find the cheapest you can then call them and barter. Thats what i did.

I know you said you looked at multicar, but see if you can get that price down. If my mum insured her car on the same multicar policy for just a month (at a grand total of £36) then it nocked nearly £500 off of my insurance!

Go along and see a good local broker that knows the market for young drivers and see what they suggest.

I did, Swintons and they quoted £10K yet their webiste said 'a fair quote' so I suggested £1k would be fair but they still stuck to £10K

Swintons are not known for being a "good, local broker" - see all the posts elsewhere on here!

Having said that, depending on the area, vehicle, driving history etc. £10k may have been the market price so you can't say it wasn't fair, just because it was more than you wanted to pay.
  • then call them and barter

    Barter with what ?

We aren't holding many of the cards
