Oh dear, I am a bad parent, I use the 'If you don't do that Daddy will go to prison' line all the time,
    .
    the latter IMO.

But my niece did cry a lot when she thought I was going to prison. I think my decription of a stone dungeon complete with rats, the stench of pee and noone at home bothering to fee the pets was overkill and probably idn't do more good than harm in retrospect.:o

No what you need is one of these - we have never used the oven that was here when we moved in, only one of these, and it is at just the right height.
PN why don't you buy one of these.

They use very little lecy, and are great for things like Pies and Baked potatoes, I even do roasts in mine! I hardly use my normal oven at all these days.
    I think....

Is it just me or does the name of this dish sound like something out of Monty Python?

It looks like it would be delish but the name is a little off-putting!

Looked at some more of that site..... looks a bit dodgy to me..... I'm sure the 'young and friendly waitresses' don't come cheap! ;)
Nancy's Thai is known as Ningbo Nanxi Tai Jiuba is a night bar and a restaurant (2nd floor) located near Nanyuan Hotel. After dinner with authentic Thai food you can go downstairs to enjoy a few drinks. Nancy's Thai Bar is a great place for having a drink while chatting with young and friendly waitresses. Foreign credit cards are accepted.

  • Maybe if we ever that that NP meet up we should all meet in a bed shop? Or, more aptly, a hopital ward?

  • How do you make beans on toast then?

Microwaves are better than ovens/hobs as it's less costly (and less time) to get stuff hot.

I have a pie here for tea, just a small, individual pie. It'll take 30 minutes to get the oven hot enough to put it in, then it cooks for 20 minutes. 50 minutes for one tiny pie is such a waste of energy .... on average I will turn an oven on 1-2x a month max. I cook most things based on the fact they're microwaveable.

We don't buy normal bread, and don't make toast except for once in a blue moon. Perhaps twice in the last 6 years?

We also don't really do the pie thing.

OH got threatened with an injunction last weekend. By Isaac. Who is 6. poor child is obviously suffering from having parents, grandfather and uncle who are all barristers.

Isaac recently defined our jobs to someone as, "Mummy and Abba go to a judge and argue about who is being good and who is naughty, and the judge decides who is a good boy."

I've seen worse summaries of my work.

Last weekend, when OH wanted to get him out of the bath, he said, "I'll go and tell a judge and he'll say you are naughty and let me play with my shark".

All these people with fancy microwave/halogen/combination things! I feel like a luddite, which is unusual for me. My microwave is also supposed to be able to do fancy things, but I'm afraid I only ever use it for nuking stuff. :o Perhaps I should learn what else it can do, and maybe I would become a convert.

The kids and I are at my parents' house for the weekend with two of my brothers. We've been discussing funeral arrangements, but also just having the sort of crazy conversations my family has always had. It is very odd that Mum is not here. It is weird that sometimes I walk into her room and see the empty hospital bed and it all hits me, and other times I just walk in there and treat it like an ordinary room and it feels normal.

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
